Preys & Predators II; Chessmen ( Rated Mature readers only ) 1.2

White Pawn

I leaned down on my haunches and looked at the body. It was a murder case, with the victim there laid on her back with the chest cut opened. She was found that morning at the alley; discovered by a passerby and reported in. She was the ninth victim in the last three months; the same modus operandi.

"Virginia Smith, thirty three, single and worked in the city as a Marketing Manager, and may had died in the early hours of the morning. I won't know until I am back at the Morgue." The coroner, Doctor Brady stood next to me. "With your approval, I would like to move Ms Smith to the Morgue. She is in need of a cleanup and the bath before we placed her into the cold room. There won't be much of her to operate on."

I frowned at the Coroner. I was called in as this was a serial murder case, but with a difference. This Ripper removed the major organs and may be selling it at the black market. It was a lucrative trade, and of late demand had jumped.

I stood up and walked away. I was not making headway since last week when they reported in the fourth victim. The only potential lead was the last four victims were all women. There was one other clue; two of the previous four was known to be seen in the gay outlets. I recalled the conversation I had with my own superior; my Senior Field Officer.

"You placed me there because I may be one like them." Marlene Phillips, my Area Supervisor knew of my flirtation at the gay bars; nothing was hidden from the Internal Bureau.

"We are guessing; and you could be right one. Your preference of who you go out with stand out." Marlene looked at me. "Your cover would be perfect."

"My personal life is my own." I told her. “More to it, they are not my preference. I was on assignment then.”

“Which you had completed the assignment sometime back, but you continued your liaison with them.” Marlene replied. “You been tagged visiting these establishments~”

“I had already said it. It was my personal life.” I hit back.

"Read your terms of employment. We owned the right to know of your life." Marlene replied. “And that cover who you may decide to go to bed with.”

"Fuck you!" I told my Supervisor before I stormed out.

"I am still waiting." Marlene shouted back.

One week later, I was in the City to introduce myself to the local precinct. The Senior Detective assigned to work with me was then approaching at the latest crime scene. He was a hunky one, but he had a limp on his left leg as a result of a work related incident.

"Simon, you are early." I called out when he stood by me. We were looking at the coroner team who were clearing the body. Simon shuffled on his feet, while they bagged it. I stood up and held out my right hand for him to shake. His strong right hand gripped mine, and I matched it for strength.

“Pardon me for being late. I was with this redhead and twice was never enough." Simon liked to gloat on his sex life, and gave me a slap on the back while he gyrate his hips like some porn star. "Anyone you scored on since you came here?"

"Nay, I was busy reading the files." I replied. That was truth for the office works, but in my own time, I had checked out the places where my other interest lies. You could say I was checking out the new boundaries. I did not find anyone of interest, or maybe my mind was pre-occupied with the murders.

"So we have one less target to concern over." Simon had the victim' bag and was reading the ID. He started humming the song by the Brazilian; to all his ex-ladies he had once loved. He pulled out a business card that interested him. "I know this place. It’s a B&D outlet with the high patronage of the females. Not that I go for such places."

It was his ego again, trying to shield his life from the other indulgence of life. I asked him for the card.

"Fancy a lashing, huh?" Simon smiled at me. "The best I done was a paddling once, but heck who needs it when I am the rock hard paddler."

Bloody ego of his puke me at times. He had come onto me since I stepped into the Precinct, like a pack leader who measured the new member for the ranking. I heard he was the 'uno numero' and even the ladies shunned him for fear of being added to his notebook. I was like the rest, best to keep a distance then being lined up as his comrade to be shunned on.

I looked at the card; The Tempest. I must had missed it from the list of the preferential outlets; recommended like Trip Adviser for places of holidays.

"We ought to check it out. There must be someone who could have seen her?" I told Simon. He nudged me back with the smirk on his face.

"The place is closed." Simon replied. “It’s open after six. Oh! That is my portable.”

Simon picked up the call, and then told me there was another murder.

“We got a duo today.” Simon replied. He then excused himself and left the scene.

"Hey, Special Agent, I think you want this." Doctor Brady passed me receipt. It was for another entertainment outlet, and the receipt was dated close to midnight. "I think that would be a real clue."

I smiled while Doctor Brady continued on.

"I knew Simon. He acts like a stud, but in actual fact, he spent more time on the internet watching porn. Don't ever shake his right hand."

I nodded to Simon for the kind advice while rubbing my right hand palm on my jacket.
