Crusaders III: The New Age 1.35

5.3.          The new revelation

Geranium swept her whip in a series of swing to keep the Vampires back. She saw the two of her allied members ran off for cover. She looked at the Vampires around her. They had been caught in an ambush with more than fifty Vampires, and with their fighting skills, they are still more than two third of them. She turned and ran for the station rubble. It was then she saw the fleeting shadow that jumped over her head. It landed on the back of her and started slashing.

“Crawler, thank God.” Geranium smiled and then turned to assist her squire. The Crawler was a killer with his claws slashing at the Vampires. They retreated from the new threat but soon succumbed to the whip held by Geranium. She then saw Schindler standing at the rear. She went for that Vampire leader.

Schindler saw her and pushed a nearby Vampire to his fore, just in time to be slashed by Geranium whip. He rushed to dissipate but before he could, he was caught by the second lash of the whip. The whip cut his left shoulder, and stopped his ability to concentrate on the disappearing act. He turned to run, but was stopped by the dead Vampire that was flung into his back. He ended on his front at the ground, and rolled to his side.

Geranium rushed for the fallen Vampire, but she was beaten by another. She saw the figure lift the Vampire into the air, and then tore the limbs off the later. The one who lifted the Vampire then hovered higher up before it sailed across to the train station. It was a human form dressed in the white suit and carried a trident. On his forehead was a set of horns while his complexion looked reddish.

“Hail the Prince.” The surviving Vampires all stopped their battle and stood to worship their idol. Crawler joined his master and snarled at the hovering figure. He was wary of the figure and looked to Geranium.

“Crusaders, you are a new face here.” The hovering figure greets the lady and her squire.

“If I am not mistaken, am I addressing Satan?” Geranium replied. “As for myself, I am new here, but not to the killing of your minions.”

“Oh, pardon the facial expression. It’s actually my real look.” The figure smiled. He then looked at the Vampires.

“Minions of mine?” The figure with the trident sniggered. He then waved his trident across the ground. The Vampires standing in the direction of the trident fell from his attack.

“They are not mine.” The figure explained. “And more to it, not all of us holds the trident is the one you named. I just happened to like the trident compared to a sword. It’s your ingrained perception placed there by others that gives us a bad impression. Or you would prefer I be seen with a rake perhaps, or a staff that could crumble a mountain.”

“Enough of your theatrics.” Geranium shouted back. “You are the devil himself.”

The figure looked to the sky and it was covered with the shadow of some flying creatures. They are large creatures with an enlarged head and wide wings. He looked to the lady and smiled.

“Its best we seek a more private place to speak.” The figure waved his trident to open a gateway just above the ground. “Step into it and we would be undisturbed.”

“No!” Geranium shouted out. “Who are those?”

“Gargoyles.”

Geranium was then whisked off into the gateway before shutting it. Crawler was left alone. He saw the approaching flying creatures and ran off but he was whisked up by the faster gargoyles. The cold stone talon grip grabbed him by his shoulder, and soared to the sky. He tried to fight back but his claws did no damage to the stony hard skin of the gargoyles.
