Crusaders III: The New Age 1.42

The Event Day at Munich

7.1.          The Event Day - Helmut

Helmut found himself on the roof of a tall building with the others. He was standing by the roof gutter and had a panoramic view of the Munich Stadium with the setting sun at the backdrop. If not for his training as a aircraft fighter pilot, he would had a feeling of vertigo, but held his composure well. He step back and saw Geranium trying to make sense what had happened.

“Whoo-pee! I loved the sight.” Micheal shouted out in glee. “Remind me of my first sunset.”

Micheal got up and stretched his back but Crawler was like his mistress; all confused on the new scene. The man creature was rushing to the edges to make out the territory boundary. He was not used to in a non-forest environment, and that scared him.

“It seems that our host had grown tired of our presence or moved us up the distance towards the target.” Helmut motioned to the stadium. It may have lost its grand overhanging glass cover, but the place was decorated with multi colors to celebrate the coming event. Geranium had forgotten the duel, and moved to look at the stadium. She saw the scores of mercenaries stationed there to guard the place, with a few Mantis mounted cannons placed strategically for defense. Micheal joined them and sighed.

“It’s impossible to move in with those guards.” Micheal sighed. “The event looked like it’s going to begin.”

Geranium was not giving up that easily. She stepped back and looked at the roof area. It was a flat surface designed for the placement of the air compressors and electrical ducts. There was the lone structure which was the staircase to the lower levels. From the vantage point of the height, she estimated the levels of the building were about fifteen in total. She then looked towards Micheal.

“Micheal, would the area here have a similar underground cabling tunnel like the one we encountered at Rosenheim?”

Micheal nodded. With that Geranium took to the staircase followed by the others. Crawler jumped the railings and took the point position, looking for any Vampires. She saw the number 16th painted on the wall at the next level. She went in by the doorway, and found herself in a large open office area. The place was still intact except for scattered documents. She then saw the emblem on the wall; it was the office of the Technical Commission of the City of Munich. However there was no power to the building hence everything had to be done manually.

“Micheal, can you check for any building plans on the city, especially in this area?” Geranium gave the instruction, and then turned to Helmut.

“I need you to check for anything we can use for our coming battle?” Geranium told Helmut. “I am looking for anything combustible.”

Geranium then dashed out of the office with Crawler to the lower levels. Helmut looked to Micheal for comfort.

“Who is she to command me?’ Helmut voiced out his issue. Micheal who was seated on the table looking at some drawings smiled back. He was checking some equipment there and chose later to ignore the other.

Helmut was getting agitated at his helplessness and proceeded to look out the window for anything that he thinks could be made into a weapon. He spied a helicopter on the adjacent building. It looked intact and might be able to fly. Without a word, he went for the staircase. He passed Floor 10th where he saw Geranium moving in there. He did not pause to look but continue on moving down. He ignored the other floorings while he was focused on getting to get down. He soon reached the Ground Level and took a view to the lobby. It was formerly a large lobby with the multi seated reception desk and the array of settees.

There were five Vampires gorging on the carcass of what may have been a canine next to the reception desk. Helmut had his broadsword when his presence was known. The Vampires stopped their feeding and faced him with drawn machetes. They charged at him, while he took on a defensive stand. He swung out and deflected the oncoming slashes.

“Ja!” Helmut shouted out when his sword cut into the chest of the Vampire but he also felt the cut onto his back. If not for the chainmail, he would have been wounded.

“You are good”, Helmut backed up. These are not the regular Vampires he had been trading blows, but the Elite Squads. He was to resume his attack when Crawler leapt at the Vampires. The man creature grabbed the left Vampire by its right arm, and yanked it back to break it before he jumped to the rear. Helmut took the opportunity to remove another Vampire with his sword, when they were distracted by the sight of the man-creature.

“Ja! That’s more like it.” Helmut shouted while he faced the last two Vampires with the third one injured on the right arm. He charged at them, but the two uninjured ones jumped clear trying to cling on the walls. Crawler had anticipated that, and brought down two of them back to the flooring, before he thrust his claws into the fallen Vampire. Helmut rushed in and finished off the other. The wounded one tried to flee but was stopped by Crawler who jumped on it.

“Danke”, Helmut muttered to the man-creature. He looked around and could not see Geranium.

“Where’s your mistress?” Helmut asked.
