Prince
Csaba smiled at the thoughts of the new acquisitions. His army was still
smaller compared to the Commander and that of Richard II. With the latest
acquisitions, his strength had matched theirs and all sides are now taking to
hold their own boundaries. The enemies of his will need to re-arm for the new
edge just when he will do the same. His numbers needed to be increased to carry
the new weapons.
“My
Prince, tell me of this place.” Kassius asked the Prince. They were brought to
this new place; a large cavern far from the Vault, hidden in a valley. It was
empty of any furnishings, but Kassius sensed the place was not devoid of
others. He looked to the dark walls, and felt the presences of the spirits; the
undead soldiers of the Prince. He looked to the far end of the cavern and saw
the metal ring. He remembered that ring; the very same one he had traveled to
this world.
It
would be his way to go back to his world.
The
Prince looked to his guests who were packing up for their trip back to their
own world.
“I
would like you to stay but the world of yours needs you more than us.” Prince
Csaba looked to Kassius. “My world will stand for another ten years, with both
my enemies held back by your gift. You may be gone for one month here, but when
you returned to your own world it would be a more than that.”
Prince
Csaba looked to the small case held still in the assassin’ right hand.
“Behold
its power, and its curse.” Prince Csaba told the assassin. “Once you are over
there, pass it to Merlin. He would know how to use it. He was its slave once
before.”
“Slave?
I don’t understand.” Kassius asked back.
“The
Ark is weak in its form. It had weakened more when it was kept away. Its
nutrient was the soul of its numerous slaves but of late, that had also failed
to nourish its own self. Take my advice well. He who could still be its slave
is the one you knew.”
“I
will be back in time to fight your war.” Kassius told the Prince.
“Aye,
I will be waiting.” Prince Csaba laid his eyes once more on the Ark. He had
preserved the trust his father told him but he had forego that trust then. He
still recalled when his father told him that it was Merlin who passed him the
Ark. Merlin had confessed that he could no longer served as the guardian the
Ark for he feared it will fall into the wrong hands. He asked that Attila be
its new guardian and allowed him to hold it when he asked. Attila had kept it
for the sorcerer and yet the later had come back for it many times on the
excuse of using it one more time. Each time Merlin brought it back, he needed
time to recover. The Prince asked if the role can be switched.
“We
are not to be its master, but only its slave and guardian. When the call come
calling, we will obliged.”
Kassius
placed the Ark into his carry bag, and then bid farewell to the Prince. He
walked to the familiar ring.
It
was time to go home.
