The Tempest Prologue 18

Prologue 18

"Mr Miller, this is Doctor Hermann, from Berlin. He is here to test his latest works on the behavior of the mind." The Director of Evergreen introduced the bespectacled short man in the doctor frock.

"Ja, I am about to begin ze test." Doctor Hermann ignored the Director and the guest, to proceed to watched his subject in the room. They were standing behind a two way mirror with the view of the next room. The subject was a man in his thirties, and was given some drugs. He had been placed in that room for over forty eight hours with music constantly played.

"What music is that?" Paul asked.

"German songs. More opera type. Good for the mind." The good doctor explained. "The subject had been listening non stop for the last forty eight hours with five minutes interval every hour. He had been given food laced with drugs. He is our second subject to undergo it."

"Second subject?" Paul asked.

"Yes, the first one died of a heart attack. Wrong subject as he was too old and weak." Doctor Hermann explained. "This one is younger and healthy."

Then on the window, the subject was raving to himself and knocked against the walls. He was calling out but they cannot hear him. Doctor Hermann put on the headphones connected to the other room.

"Ja, he is broken. He is asking for forgiveness." Doctor Hermann smiled. "My experiment had worked."

"Mr Miller, we think that with this experiment, we could control the more violent inmates...."

"Have that man released. He had enough." Paul told the Director and walked out. Two hours later, the cops found their colleague on the street, raving apologies and running scared. He had a placard on his chest; "Squealer". He was sent to the hospital for observation. The words on the street was that he came too close to the Miller's. Most people knew that Paul Miller had a place where he handled his victims but they are not sure where. If only they looked hard enough, they might see through the way of his insanity
