Tweet tweet 16/01/2020 ........ Hello 2020 and I am clearing the bed bugs out

I saw in the news that a movie on WWI is out; 1917 it was called. I will watch it when it arrived on the TV or cinema; the former most probably so I can sit on my recliner.

And while sorting the unfinished/ unpublished tales, I came across one tale which I wrote to 38K words and left it for more creative pasture. It was a tale on WWI and it's based on the German perspective. I homed in on four characters in the First Army then. The tale was researched with the assistance of the web; reading articles and mapping to actual events. It ended at the end of 1914.

I stopped it there and moved on to other tales to refresh my creative mind < pun intended, actually, I got juiced out with the reading, and decided porn was better visually >.

Recently after completing DEEP HEAT II, I went back to it and edited the tale ( at about 70% done now ); correcting the phases and added some new lines. It's almost done and will publish it. And as a followup, I will do 1915 with the characters or new ones, but it will still be from the German's view. Or the French. In 1915, the French brought in the African Corps from their colonial states to fight for them.

Why this perspective?

Well, I grew up watching the one side battling the other and lately with exploration inti YOUTUBE, i was watching a wider choice of movies not shown on the local network. And that triggered the tale here. It's not about heroic acts but the sentiments of the soldiers; from the young recruits and the veterans. My characters ranged from the Colonel ( Oberst ), Captain ( Hauptmann ), Lance Corporal ( Gefreiter ) and the Surgeon. I am editing to correct the spelling and brought in more descriptive passages.

It was partly inspired by the movie 'Cross of Iron' ( Cross of Iron (German: Steiner – Das Eiserne Kreuz, lit. "Steiner – The Iron Cross") is a 1977 war film directed by Sam Peckinpah, featuring James Coburn, Maximilian Schell, James Mason, and David Warner. Set on the Eastern Front in World War II during the Soviets' Caucasus operations against the German Kuban bridgehead on the Taman Peninsula in late 1943, the film focuses on the class conflict between a newly arrived, aristocratic Prussian officer who covets winning the Iron Cross and a cynical, battle-hardened infantry NCO. )

Another influence was the comic script 'Charley's War' which I was reading then. Recently, I brought the complete series in a set of three graphic books.

Like in the older days or was it the younger days, it's in the "COMING TO SCREEN' poster frame.

Cheers
