Team Seven of Heroes Chapter 38 Finale

38.
Robert Fleming picked up the stamp that was imprinted the words Secret and pressed it into the red wax seal over the knotted strings that held the folder contents. He then looked at the assembled three persons that were seated there at the long table.

“It’s unfortunate that the others will not join us.” Robert passed the folder over to his staff for safe keeping. “You have saved the country and should be decorated but we cannot do that. This task must never be disclosed to the public.”

With that Robert glared at Watson.

“Much as it pained me, this was not a Holmes mystery although it involved his nemesis then. It will be considered as a national security. As to your personal arrangement, Doctor Watson has requested for leave to settle some personal issues.”

“I have received news that Lord Greytsoke and his wife will be returning to Africa, while Van Helsing had embarked on a quest of his own. Lady Harkness was not found from the rubbles but we know that she had eluded us. Her bank account was emptied the day she disappeared.”

“The lady was well compensated then.” Mycroft added to that.

“As to Ms Moriarty or Sigrina to both of you, we did not find her body and also of James Moriarty.”

“What of Germany and China?” Sherlock enquired.

“Germany is fine with the Chancellor back in power. There is some unrest in Albania and also in Austria. That’s where your new task will be, Mycroft. We think there is an assassination attempt on some royalty there.” Robert explained. “Likewise in China, the Mandarin is not losing his control but forced to accept new challenges to his influence. With the last war between the eight nations, the Imperial Dynasty is under threat by its own people and a change may be in place soon. I am afraid we can only wait…”

“And be the devil in the shadows.” Sherlock added in. “With our empire at the edges of ruin, how much can we do at China? Perhaps supply more guns for them to shoot each other. London is concerned on our lost colonists with their influence at the land of the Rising Sun. So tell me, Sir. Are you ready to be another in the next ten years or do we focus on our own issues?”

Robert Fleming ignored the sleuth and then proceeded to call the meeting to an end. The trio left and Watson took his own direction before Sherlock called to him.

“Watson, you may come back to my place when you do return? Your seat will be there.” Sherlock told the doctor but the later did not reply and kept on walking.

“Mighty kind of you to do that, Sherlock.” Mycroft let off a snigger. “It was not the old Holmes pride there.”

“No, there was. It just I can’t tell my own tales while solving the crime. I am a poor writer. And an addict which needed a doctor in the house.”

Watson had heard the man but he was focussed on the telegram note in his pocket.

‘Raj Manuj sent his regards.’

He had to see Manuj to settle the old score.

Unknown to the trio, Robert Fleming had to wait for one more guests at the address of 64 Baker Street.

“Come in, Ms Holmes.” Robert Fleming greeted the older lady who stepped in. The lady took to the seat.

“Both your brothers does not know of your …”

“Existence? It’s best that they don’t. Frank was not a good shooter. I moved just in time to have it creased my skull and in the commotion the other planted agents dragged me away. It was hellish to be with the man I loved but his brilliant mind demented him.”

“You were with him for over two decades and that is a sacrifice which we cannot deny beyond any sacrifice.
You became his wife, his aide and then his equal.” Robert saluted the lady.

“Yes, I did and with your help and SOE, I was made MIS Chief. I did it to trap the Moriarty brothers but we ended up with only one.”

“Your works will be carried on by Sherlock and eventually Mycroft on the continent.” Robert replied. “As for you, it’s time to retire to your work in Egypt with the father of your son.”

“Nayland does not need me anymore. He is already a chip off the block here. I will take my life in the other continent.”

Ms Sigrina then excused herself. She let herself off the rear entrance and soon walked herself to the train station. She boarded the train for Dover and sat in the cubicle reserved by her. There was a lady seated across her reading a book by Charles Darwin

“It’s a surprise that we were not mentioned in any of the passages.” Ms Sigrina voiced out to the other lady. “I guess women will always never feature as the main for maybe a hundred years.”

“True but I much prefer it that way.” Lady Harkness replied. “I booked us on the passage to America on the Hindenburg when we return to Germany. I hear its explosive to travel that way.”

In the continent across the Channel, Van Helsing stepped into the chapel of the Monastery. He approached the friar at the long bench.

“Van Helsing, you done well but your nemesis eluded you. Nevertheless, you surfaced him and the hunt can resume. We also lay away the workings on the origins and let God do his own work without us teasing at it.” Friar Tuck spoke up. “The Marry Men will remain at your service.”

“I will do my own hunting now, Friar.” Van Helsing held up the shaft presented to him by Lord Greystoke. “This is Guinevere. She is bitch when latched on.”

“I will be leaving for the far east to the tall mountains. I fancied looking up the abominable creature there.”

“Go one then. You are happier when hunting the God misled creatures.” The friar smiled at Van Helsing.

Across the ocean to the south Lord Greystoke stepped off the branch of the tall tree and let his body sailed through the canopies of leaves before he grabbed the long vine to swing over to the tree house he had built for Jane and his new family. He reached the main branch that held his hut there and then joined Jane at the porch.

“I missed the sunrise here. It’s so peaceful.”

If there were words to describe ‘good escape’ it was reserved for James Moriarty. He stood on the Dover cliffs while looking at the sunset there. He was soon joined by one other who carried a long case.

“How was your crossing, Sebastian?”

“Good, Sir. I have no issue with the sail boats.”

“Good. I am happy to have you by my side. Our scheme had failed. It was a mathematical error to place it on Frank. He was too engrossed with his research than the organization.”

“Professor, his failure had crumbled our French and Germany organization. I escaped because they thought I was against you.” Sebastian reported in. “Was it the needed strength to have those creatures? I thought it was a waste of effort.”

“I already said it was Frank’s fault but I sanctioned it. It did bring us wealth and now we will use it to strike back. We have learned that Rome was not build in seven days but we are always evolving. We will learn to be better.”

“What about the Mandarin?” Sebastian raised the question. “He is too far for us to fight with.”

“Patience, Sebastian. As we speak now, the Mandarin is facing on a coming revolution that will soon create more chaos there. He will be busy trying to hold his empire intact.” The Professor looked at Sebastian. “I need you in Austria to stir the scene there and prepare an assassination. It may just trigger off a great war.”

“After all, we the warriors of chaos.  And the new order.” Professor Moriarty then stepped back to the hansom waiting for him. “Sherlock, we shall meet one day and let fate determine our fall.”
