SCENE I.
5.1.2
Another Goth warrior stepped towards the leader. He bore some messages for the leader.
“My lord, there is a messenger from Rome desires to be admitted to your presence.” The warrior called out and then
bowed to the leaders that had assembled there.
“Let him come near.” Lucas called out to the warriors. The invite was relayed to the messenger who came forth with
Goths warriors at his side. It was AEmilius.
“Welcome, AEmilius what's the news from Rome?” Lucas recognized the other and hugged him.
“Lord Lucas, and you princes of the Goths, the Roman leader greets you all by me.” AEmilius greeted the newly
appointed leader of the Goths. He felt strange looking at his childhood friend among the Goths but the events of the
time have called for unusual tidings.
“And, for he understands you are in arms”, AEmilius looked to the hostile looks of the leaders around him. They had
all fought many battles against him, and his friends. Such hostilities may take more than a cursory hug to dispel.
“He craves a parley at your father's house, willing you to demand your hostages, and they shall be immediately
deliver'd.” AEmilius looked to Lucas. He had avoided using the name of the invitee but his meanings rang the same.
“What says our general?” A Goths leader asked of Lucas.
“AEmilius, let the leader give his pledges” Lucas replied. “Unto my father and my uncle Micheal, and we will
come. March away.”
