Weekend Special Short Tales California 2.3 Chapter 1

1.

Her mind is Tiffany-twisted
She got the Mercedes Benz, uh
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys
That she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard
Sweet summer sweat
Some dance to remember
Some dance to forget

That was my recollection before I was jolted from my deep hibernation in the hibernation pod by the ship’s system. It was given the protocol to wake me up on several conditions like we are going to collide or crashed, or there was a major malfunction like the poop system was not working. I was joking about that. We don’t poop when we are in the pod for we had it all done before we get in. The crews used to say ‘get cleared there or end up the douche bagged’.

I won’t want that but waking up from the hibernation felt like I was douche once too many times.

“I am up, Tiffany.” I addressed the ship by that name. The designation was to read as Model TF99-9 but I called it by name and addressed her as a bitch too when I was in the mood. It can’t be helped for I am a bitch by reputation.

And my name is Tiffany.

Bitch Navigator was what the crew called me.

There are five of us; organic beings and two mechanical droids in our huge interstellar ship. We are not haulers, or we are but we haul corpses back to the Fleet Command for the proper burial. I know it sounded corny like when I was handling the sewage plants at Felix Five stations, everyone called me Shit Engineer. I don’t mind as it came with a good credits package and housing with sauna facilities. I would have stayed on but my space-faring needs hit me like a dry orgasm. I quit and joined the trade ship of hauling containers but the competition was stiff which I was not able to produce. I had then moved my ship to haul corpses.

It was not that bad doing the final voyage for the dead, as the war at the Empire Frontiers was piling on the dead warriors, and the enacted Burial Act 2345 required the corpses in whole or part to be retrieved from the battle sites. It was to provide them a warrior sent-off instead of being left to the coldness of space. Well, there were credits to be earned and it was a thankless task.

I got myself a hauler ship designated Mercedes design but the Ship Engineer called it Benz after his name. He is an organic freak with meticulous care for his tasks. He is also a huge Aryan; he claimed to be one of from that descent with the blonde streak of hair shaved in the front to leave the rear length trailing to his back. His other feature was his right arm was bionic attached arm after he lost his organic one to the war he was fighting in as the ranks with the Space Marines. He gave up the fighting and took to the maintenance of the ship’s workings from the main thrusters to the cabling of the coolants and the water heater for the baths in the Communal Chamber. He had kept the ‘Mercedes’ at its near perfect condition considering the ship had reached its twenty calendar year of space flight time. We have exceeded the maximum fifteen years of service but Benz had the way to convince the Inspectors to turn a blind eye on the calendar years with his flair of displaying the good condition of the engines and the warp core. I had to admit we have no major breakdowns yet.

The two crews of mine responsible for the hearse carrier; we got to name the long container that housed the two hundred odd corpses each and the hundred-odd parts recovered. We hauled five of these in our tow then, fully packed and sealed in the one thousand feet in length container. The dead bodies were kept in pods of three feet width and eight feet in length with their identification of the deceased and arranged on the racks in the container. We needed no refrigeration for the space void outside was past the freezing point, and without an atmosphere, there was no decay. The dead were mostly the deceased warriors of the Empire in the war. It was not like the Empire was losing the war but we do have many battles and many warriors died. Their corpses were recovered from the battlefields and filled into the pods before it was collected into the container for deportation to their home planet for the final ceremony. The Ship could pull five times the load. I did wonder on the other side how they handle their deaths. I could do both sides we are after all neutral parties but I was told that the other side left their corpses on the battlefield as a symbol of sacrifice.

The two crews in charge of the containers were the twins Hagar and Hagen. Both sweet boys of the Norwegian best, and like their forefathers, they are good at handling the dead. They still believed in Valhalla and ensure the dead are preserved well in their assigned compartments.

Then there is the last member; Hirohito of Eastern descent, who is called the Captain not by rank but was the Captain of the ship. Well, if it suits me I will rattle him as Hirohito. I am the major share owner of the Mercedes while Hirohito Sato held a smaller share. He argued for the Captain rank and I gave in. I then went for the rank of the navigator. Hirohito aka the Captain was a tall guy with a muscular frame and wielded the sharp blade which he claimed was his ancestors. His other rank was the System Engineer. He was different from Benz for his responsibility was Tiffany. If there were intimidate connection, you could say he was doing the foreplay on Tiffany most times. He was always tweaking her system.

Then there are my two other bits of help, the droids codenamed Huginn and Muninn. They are from the Raven series’ designed for ship repairs with the twin triple tentacles on their narrow frame and the elongated neck to the headpiece and the double antennas. The droids measured at man’s length but they moved using the spidery movements which were how they moved around, or on two lower limbs like us the Earthlings. It was a design issue by their designers.

As for myself, I am a dark-skinned African female standing tall at over six feet five and held two credentials; one of automated machine and the other was a chemical analyst. I wore my hair braided to the shoulder and kept my slim frame with constant martial workouts. I held the Masters’ certification for my fighting skills. But I held zero scores on my love life. My last lover ditched me for the Martian. She claimed I was too twisted. The crew called me behind my back ‘Charon’ from the Greek ancient tales for I do navigate to the sectors where I can find the corpses.

Together we made the crews for the Mercedes TF99-9 the Hearse Transporter 10.

Arthur II Book IV Chapter 3

3.

Arthur glared at his Queen seated in defiance at the round table when he had forbidden that only the assigned with be given a seat. She sat at the one marked for Lancelot and not his. He felt a sense of discomfort but he will not let that overcome his emotions. After all, Lancelot was wedded and probably still sowing his seeds inside his lover while he had none to share with.

They were at the Hall in Camelot castle and the servants have all retreated to the rear castle for better reasons.

“What is your resistance to my tournament? I held it to celebrate my victory over the raider. As it was always on the defeat of an enemy.” Arthur looked at the one he had crowned the Queen.

“It’s a mockery of their skills and more like a boy’s game.” Guinevere snapped back. “And I am to present them a rose for their effort. This is absurd.”

“It’s the King’s tournament and the knights adore you when you give them a rose. They loved you as their Queen.”

“Or to hold my hand when I handed the rose out like this.” Guinevere mimicked the handing of the rose with her right hand. “Shall I hold my gown open for it may reveal my bosom to them?”

“A …” Arthur bit his tongue there. He was back and all Guinevere told him as she was unwell. He had wanted to deny her of her sickness but felt obligated towards her. He had seen her in various states of undress and yet he was not to touch her.

“Surely, you could do …” Arthur looked at Guinevere.

“Wear a neck-high gown? I would but the heat in the day was stifling.” Guinevere cut in.

“I was to say…. Never mind. You may be excused. I will handout the …. gifts by myself then.” It was then a servant intervene the two in their discussion.

“Send him in now.” Arthur then looked at his Queen. “I have a guest from the Wall. May I have the table back?’

Guinevere took leave just as Centurion Marius Giles stepped in. He took his seat at the round table and spoke of his visit.

“The murder of the Marcellus family had left me with issues locally.” Marius did not mince his words. “Rome will have nothing to do with it. The daughters are safe in Hispania if I am not mistaken. However the local families, Meleagant and Augustus conflict with the lands owned by the previous Marcellus. The rule of the land states that the land belonged to no one until a stake is made known officially with the needed proof of ownership or rights.”

“Who holds the stake then?” Arthur asked.

“Too many of them are at it I am afraid.” Marius snapped out. “Even the other local Lords are in the tussle. Lord Ban and Bors with the Elders are it too. Their conflict had erupted into a rivalry of the two Lords.”

“And yourself?” Arthur asked.

“I favored not of it. I have my own in Rome and Hispania. I am not greedy.” Marius replied. “Bardel Meleagant is ill and his son Octavia manages the estate. He is vicious that young Noble. He does not back from fights although he hardly does it himself. He has his guards to do it.”

“Tell me of Lord Ban and Bors,” Arthur asked.

“Loyal allies of the deceased Lord Pendragon but now they are rivals. Lord Ban held the support of the Elders.” Marius then smiled. “They are in your tournament tomorrow. They want to see who will topple the other.”

“The Augustus?”

“With the wedding of Elaine and Lancelot, that family held their own with the influence of Lancelot but Auric the Elderly, he still holds friends at the Senate.”

“I hear the Empire is at crossroads with Emperors on different states.” Arthur looked at Marius. “Then why are you here?”

“Rome conflicts but here you reign as King. Take the land as per their King. I hold no control over what was beyond the wall. My bursar complained to me of the lack of coins frequently and I need no more legionnaires that I cannot pay or be burden by it.” Marius told him. Arthur looked to the Centurion.

“Take the land?” Arthur reckoned he ought to and the land may yield his harvests.

“I will consider. I will send you coins to maintain your Legionnaires well. While Rome burns, we need not have it here. Are you staying for the tournament?” Arthur asked.

“I will be now,” Marius replied with a smile. “The extra coins will make my bursar less grumpy.”

However, the smile was not on Merlin when he met Vivianne at the lakeside. He had waited impatiently for some time and soon she appeared in her usual fanfare of sprouting water fountain and then slide to the lakeside.

“I have no news on Morgause or Morgan. They have not resurfaced.” Vivianne said. “Why have you sought me?”

“I felt the vibrations of someone new in the realm. Do you know of it?”

“We did but it cannot be traced. It’s not entirely evil but there is goodness there. I am sorry, I can’t help you there.” Vivianne replied. “I have heard of the news that there are some elves who are working with you and yet they will not disclose their tasks.”

“Oh, those tasks are menial. With my role at Camelot, I have asked them to assist me. It’s nothing to be a concern with.” Merlin said. “Why do you ask?”

“Merlin, you are known to be elusive and I will not pursue it for now. If I did find out that you have done things which may be harmful to us, I will not spare you.” Vivianne made her stand.

“I have a favor to ask of you.” Merlin brought up the subject he was there to meet Vivianne.

“Speak your mind, Merlin.”

“I require a sword.” Merlin looked at Vivianne. “I am to send the knights; the worthy ones to seek the Grail. It will be brought to Camelot. And probably kept by you.”

“There are two great swords out there; Excalibur and Arondight. Why would I give you another?”

“The quest for the Grail is a difficult one and knights on it may require more than bravery. I am thinking of …”

“Balin’s sword. I know of your favor but do you know that the sword is cursed.” Vivianne told Merlin. “You knew that it once belonged to Balin Le Savage, the brave knight long before Lancelot and Arthur were here.”

“I know of the tale that he drew the sword out of the scabbard when it was carried by Lady Lile, on her girded on her waist belt. She was your predecessors as Lady of the Lake. She offered to the worthy knight to draw the sword.”

“Lady Lile did offer that challenge but she also said the sword to return to her after it’s drawn but Balin kept the sword despite the call to have it returned. He was warned that the sword would make him kill his loved one before it’s sheathed once more. Balin ignored her warning and did incur the wrath when he killed his brother in a duel.”

“Balin carried the curse till death. Upon his death, the sword was returned to the Lake.”

“And now you want it again?” Vivianne looked hard at Merlin. “I will ….”

“In the quest for the Grail, Vivianne.” Merlin reinstated his request.

“I will let you know.” Vivianne then slipped back into the lake. There she was met by the other ladies.

“I did not tell him of Morgan. I fear if he knew, he may overreact. Morgan Le Fay is more powerful now.” Vivianne looked to the others. “She will avenge her sister.”

“Did you ask him about his works with the elves?” Nimue asked.

“I did but he refused to tell me. He will be watched by us and when he is done, we will take on him as we did with Morgause.” Vivianne states her view. “I have my loyalty to the Lake only.”

“Then what did he want?” Nimue asked.

“He asked not of anything. Back to our training please, Ladies. We have a foe on the horizon.” Vivianne told the others. The ladies then dispersed to their tasks. Based on loyalty, Merlin upon leaving the lake went to look for Ronin the Elf whom he entrusted the important task. He met the latter at the forest.

“I have asked for the Balin’s sword,” Merlin told Ronin. “Was it a wise choice?”

“That sword is the last to be made but it’s cursed. Its master must be a great knight.” Ronin replied. “And out there, there are many great knights. But none as good as …”

“He is Lancelot. I know.” Merlin changed the subject to Morgause. “How is she?”

“She is still very much the same. She had a scant collection of the past. She can’t remember her name but could recite some spells. We have to be careful.”

Arthur II Book IV Chapter 2

2.

The attack on the Marcellus Villa was still on the whispers among the locals.

“It was a massacre then. The guards staged a revolt and they killed the others in their sleep.” The one in the tavern corner took a sip of the mead and then sighed. “What a way to die.”

“I heard the master of the household held them off with his sword.” Another on the same table added in. “He was brave but the savior was too late.”

“I heard it was the Black Knight. He came to their rescue. For the Romans, that knight does not need to do just that.” The first one who spoke ridiculed the other.

Unknown to the duo, another was listening in. It was a solitary knight minding his own business and thought of having a quiet drink. Jaseth recalled that night after he rode off when he saw Lancelot. His mind was at unease on the old witch there.

“It’s not the time yet,” Jaseth told himself. He rode off to his sanctuary to remove his amour. He then unsaddled the horse and took it to wash when the amulet on his neck vibrated. He knew then there was witchery abound. He did not don his armor but grabbed his halberd and sword. He rode bareback on the horse at the one place he knew was the cause of it.

The gates were opened and Jaseth rode in. He encountered no guards but there were trails of blood in the Hall. He heard the fighting above and rushed there. He was in time to see the black-armored knight slaying the guard.

“Hold your fighting, knight,” Jaseth called out. The black-armored knight pushed the dead guard off his sword.

“I am not the killers. They slay the household. I am here to protect them but I am late. The household master lays dead Inside.”

“Who are you? I am the ….” Jaseth realized that he had not donned the green armor. “I am a knight of the realm.”

“I hold no name except the armor I wore. I am the one they called the Black Knight.” The other replied. “My work is done and I am to leave. You may assist the old lady. She is unharmed.”

The Black Knight stepped over the dead guard and walked off. Jaseth approached the chamber and saw the old lady standing there by the wall, with her hands held above her. She was in her nightgown and was chanting some spells. He knew that she was calling on her witchcraft to protect her. It was then he saw the serpent that appeared from under her feet. It was a small one but it held the venom to kill.

“I command you to kill me. I shall not be taken alive.” The old lady spoke.

“I am not here to kill….” Just as Jaseth was to reply, the serpent struck at the lady on the right leg. She collapsed onto her knees and the serpent struck once more at the chest. Jaseth reacted with speed to kill the serpent and then approached the dying lady. He cradled the lady into his arms.

“I have sinned but I will not be burned at the stake or kill by you. I prefer death.” The lady whispered in her dying breaths.

“The one you can save is in the closet. He sent her there before he fought those guards.” The old lady pointed to the closet. “Her name is Adele and her….”

Jaseth felt the old lady had slipped into death in his arms.  He then saw the three other guards alongside the Master dead there in the chamber.

“Come out now, lady. The guards are dead.” Jaseth called out. Adele stepped out into tears after seeing the death of her lover.

“Antonio, you must not die…” Adele cried. Jaseth saw no use of his being there and stood up to leave.

“You must not go, Sire. Avenge my master for me.”

“He was by the other knight. I had come in late to stop the older lady’s death.” Jaseth explained. “You will be fine.”

“No, I am not. The black knight came to kill me. He had questioned the dying guards but none knew of my whereabouts. He is protecting…” Adele had then gasped in her words. Jaseth looked to the back and saw the Black Knight had returned. The returning knight had hurled the spear into the frightened lady. The spear had pierced the lady in the chest. Jaseth had reached for the spear but the lady was dead.

“Why?” Jaseth had turned to face the Black Knight.

“She hired the killers to kill the Marcellus.” The Black Knight said. “I had questioned the killers.”

“That was not what I knew. I was …” Jaseth held back his words. He saw the Black Knight left the chamber.

“I will …. You will pay for this kill, Black Knight.” Jaseth swore in his words.

Later back at the tavern, Molly asked the man seated there if he wanted a refill of the mead.

“No, I am fine. Do you know the Black Knight? Who is the real knight beneath the armor?” Jaseth asked.

“No one knows who he is. But I was told he will appear at the next tournament?”

Jaseth knew that he will also be there. He will challenge the Black Knight and the winner will be the one who will reveal his real face.

That night, The Black Knight returned to his lair, tired, and was met by the Friar who assisted in the removal of the armor. The friar saw the blood and hen questioned the knight.

“Was it a bloody fight?”

“They all are, Friar. And I have to …. Remove the one who caused it all and created an enemy.”

“Who?” The friar asked.

“I killed the lady who was the one who hired the guards to kill the family, and in turn, I was met by another knight who came to her rescue. He did not reveal his name but he wielded the halberd. I have heard of ….”

“The Green Knight, Sire. He wielded the halberd. How could you have not recognized him?”

“He was without his armor and more to it, he was unknown. I heard the one that was said to be the Green Knight was one named Sir Bernlak but he had died. Maybe another had taken his place.”

“Was he your equal, Sire?”

“We did not battle,” Lancelot replied.

“Then we won’t know. Anyway, the tournament is scheduled for tomorrow. Perhaps you might there?”

“The jousting tournament of Camelot? I had forgotten all about it. Should I go as myself or …”

“The choice may be obvious. The Black Knight will bring forth the other.”

Book IV

The Fall of Arthur and the Knights

The tale of Arthur had to come to end. It’s like any tale on a Kingdom including many huge Kingdoms like the Mongols, the Romans and even the great Alexander. All that begin will eventually have to end; nothing lasts forever.

There are a few events that marked the downfall era of Arthur:

l  The infamous relationship of Lancelot and Guinevere. I should say illicit relationship for they were not bound by wedded terms. Well, it was then.

n  There were the events of how Lancelot in the rescues of Guinevere’ apparently she always needed rescuing. It may be the point of literary to portray the lady in the rescue needs.

n  The rescue (again) of Guinevere from the burning stake after she was accuse of being unfaithful.

u  It was said that Mordred told Arthur of Lancelot was seen with the Queen. She was captured and put on trial for adultery.

l  The pursuit of the Holy Grail; so what was the Grail? Was it a cup as suggested in many literatures or a dish as said by others?

l  Does it give immortality? Or cure the wounds? Or repel ailments?

n  Who was there? Or rather who was the one who retrieve the Grail

u  Percival

u  Galahad

u  Gawain

u  Bors

u  Lancelot

n  They went by ship Corbenic.

n  It was told that three found the Cup, and was to send it to the Holy Land

u  Percival - who then retired and never return to Camelot He lived outside of Sarras as a hermit.

u  Galahad or was it Gawain who died after he returned it. He was quoted as returning to God’s side.

u  Bors returned to Camelot to tell the others.

The fall of Arthur was due to two main events.

n  Guinevere

u  The fall of Arthur came about after the trail of the Queen. He had banished Lancelot from the land, who had sought refuge in France.

u  In his anger, Arthur wanted to pursue Lancelot and traveled there leaving Camelot to the care of Mordred. The later was to betray Arthur and took over Camelot.

n  Mordred

u  Arthur returned to battle Mordred and was later joined by Lancelot who came just in time to see Arthur fatally wounded inflicted by Mordred.

l  After the fall of Arthur

n  Excalibur was returned to the Lake

u   Two things varied by different references

l  One, Arthur did not die but was taken into the Lake to recover

l  Two, Excalibur was returned by whom? Some said Tristan, and some said Belvedere.

Those were the notable passages of Arthur’s tale.

Now what about the others in the tale.

l  The ladies of the Lake

n  Morgan Le Fay

n  Morgause Le Fay (or was the same as above)

n  Lady Elaine

n  The other ladies

u  Vivianne

u  Ninniane

u  Others

l  Merlin

l  The other notable knights

l  And finally Camelot

Then came the part where I am to add in my sections to the tale.

l  The Meleagant

l  Marius of the Ninth Cohort

l  The other knights

n  Erec

n  Sir Kay

n  Belvedere

n  Jaseth - Green Knight

n  Lord Ban

The conflicts of the knights

1.

I saw the barbarian charging at me with the raised mallet held in this hand. I had to wait for the right timing before I crouched down to swing my broadsword onto his lower chest and spilled his guts out on the field. The barbarian fell and I brought down my sword one more time on the back of his neck to make sure he is dead. On stabbing him in the neck, I felt the need to twist the blade to cut off his spine. Let him live his next life as the spineless mortal and never to raise a sword against me.

"Auric dies!" I shouted out to the others who are on the same battlefield. My voice traveled wide and reached their ears as they all stop their fighting. No one wants to risk death or being injured to a lost cause when the leader is not more. I removed my sword from the dead body and wiped the blood off its blade. It was then I felt the wounds on my body where the armor did not protect but they are not fatal or it would be lying there on the ground.

"We win again, Lancelot. Well done, my knights." I heard my King and good friend, Arthur of Camelot. Yes, he rejoices as we have beaten yet another foe and we can go home now. He called forth the other knights and they staggered towards their King. The battle was brief but intense and most of them were tired from the hard riding and the battle.

Arthur had hail everyone a hero of the realm while they stood upright back up ignoring the flow of blood that seeped out of the wounds in their bodies. Heroes do not get to moan and groan at those petty cuts. It was a part of involved in the battle and they were thankful, they were still there. But the ones not there were the ones who had their soul remove from the body.

Auric who lies there on the ground would be telling his tale at the grand table when he meets his ancestors. For the living ones, it would soon be a round table and feasted by the servants after they are soothed with balms and bandages to the cuts. They will drink and eat to the victory before they are called to go home or to some servant's bedding.

Lancelot’s bedding was to be with Elaine his wedded lover, but the ride back to Joyous did not beckon then. He was tempted to move to the tavern with the local wenches who would moan and screamed of his humping on their body.

“I know not to desire at times but the evil thought of my King who goes back to his wife, the lady Guinevere. My evil thoughts then would be his thrust into her as they are locked a passion of love. For every thrust he does to her, I would do the same with more force here like when I wield my sword. I care not for the wench beneath me nor of my battle wounds. I hold not the soothing of my hate on knowing my love is being served by another.”

Those were his exact thoughts when he staggered out of Camelot. He had his back turned on his King and yet in battle he fought alongside.

Soon, Lancelot stood naked inside the deserted ruined place of worship on the hill. He had stripped off his tunic and stood there naked of all clothing and also of bandages. Blood seeped from his wounds while his mind flirted with his anger.

“I am in need to redeem my sin. My sin not of my love for my King's wife but the fact that I could have killed my King today from the back if not for the intervention of Auric. Arthur's back was exposed to me then, and all I need to do was to thrust my sword into his back.” Lancelot confessed. He then retrieved the two 'cat-o-nine' whip. It balanced well in both his hands and raised it high above him. He brought it in a swooping lash to the side of his left waist. The whip end curled itself around his waist to the back.

“Arghhh….” Lancelot screamed. The lashing had opened up unhealed and new wounds, causing scores of blood to open up. The pain was excruciating but he did not stop there. He raised his hands and brought it down again.

Lancelot discovered flagellation from the friar he saved from some French knights.

“It’s way to cleanse you of your sins. God will hear your penance in your pain.” Lancelot was told. He found it more rewarding to his mind and heart than humping some wenches in the tavern wishing it was his love he was humping. No one knew of his action for the armor concealed the wounds and if seen, it can be attributed to old battles.

"Stop!" Lancelot heard the voice and knew it well. His arms went down and slowly he turned to see the person who dares to command me. She stood there with her cloak covering her body from the cold winds. "I am your Queen. Obey my order or face the King's wrath.

She walked towards me and stood behind him. He did not turn to look at her for he felt ashamed to see her but she commanded him to do so.

"No, my Queen I cannot. I am ashamed to face you. Please go and leave me to my punishment. It’s for my foul deed to think of killing the King. "Lancelot’s head hung down in shame while he spoke of his intention to her.

"Lancelot, you did not kill him. Explain from you these foul thoughts. Was it because of......?” The Queen paused in her words.

"Yes, my Queen. Because he is yours and I cannot have you. I am destined to live my life at your side but never with you. Every time he retires to the chamber with you, I am left with a raging desire to kill him. In my mind then, he is ravaging you and not loving you. It should be who should love you." Lancelot spoke out his mind.

"Give me the lashes, Sir Lancelot." Lancelot handed her the whip. She must have stood back for a while before she steps forth to lash his back with it. He felt every stroke that hit his body and it did not pain that course through it but the pleasure of love and lust. He fell with his hands covering his face but she did not stop at all. It must have been twenty or more lashes before she stopped. He looked down at the flooring and saw the pool of blood there. It glistens like some spreading of the bread and yet he wanted to taste it.

Lancelot placed his finger on it and then stuck it in my mouth. It tasted not of blood from the wounds of his battles but something sweet. It was then; He felt her body holding him from the back. It hurt him for her holding him had pulled at the open wounds, and the blood seeped out.

“Arghhh…” Lancelot moaned not of pain but pleasure. The Queen rubbed her body against his back and kissed him on the neck. She also licked at the blood that was spilled there.

"Lay with me, Lancelot. Do it here on the flooring where your blood flows wide. Use that as our bedding and give me my desire."

Lancelot turned to face her and she was all there in her nude body. She had removed her cloak and gown before she lashed him. He recalled her beauty from the first time they laid. He reached for her face and laid lips to hers. There was blood but they felt were desire. She pulled him down onto her body and spread herself for him.

"Do me, Lancelot. Show me your desire. I am your Queen and I command it."

“Yes…” Lancelot cried out. His consciousness soon opened up and found himself back at his chamber, in Joyous. He looked at himself wet from the body sweat nude on the bedding. He turned to his left and saw Elaine, his wedded lover seated there. She was dressed in the silky gown that she wore to sleep.

“My Lord, you were shouting.” Elaine looked at him. “Was it a dream?”

Lancelot shook his head and then stepped off the bedding. He approached the washbasin and washed. He felt her hands around him.

“I can take care of you, my Lord,” Elaine whispered to his ears.

“No, I must be going.” Lancelot pulled away.

“My Lord, you have just returned to Joyous. What rush have you to do outside?” Elaine looked at Lancelot. The latter did not reply and walked to retrieve his tunic. He was soon out of the door before she could stop him. Elaine looked to the wall opening at the chamber. It was still dark out there, and she wondered what he needed to do then. She sighed then. He had been avoiding her for days when they are together and his excuses were to do battle with Arthur.

“Lancelot, I hate you,” Elaine muttered to herself. “What has she had that I do not have?”

Elaine heard the lover of her mumbled the other name in his sleep. Initially, she was shocked but later she saw him look at his expression when he was near the Queen. How could he desire the lady who was the Queen, and he served the King. She thinks he was made to love her but she knew that she was mad to love him for she had not felt any of it for him then.

“Love is a pain to some and pleasure to another,” Elaine remembered those words spoken to her the other ladies. “You can pretend to love to be with him.”

Elaine was with Lancelot for he was her protector, as Guinevere was with Arthur. They are all fools in love. She turned away to look at the empty bedding.

“It will be filled up one day but not by him,” Elaine said to herself. As for Lancelot, all he wanted was to be away. After a short ride in the time before dawn, Lancelot reached the hut where his trusted friar had taken as the humble abode. His knock on the door was brief and the friar attended to his needs.

“Your armor is ready, Sire.’ Friar Tate saddled the horse, while the knight checked his armor. “There will be a tournament two days from today. It will be the celebration of Arthur on his victory over the raiders.”

Lancelot heard the friar. It had been two seasons of peace and then the raiders appeared on the coastal settlements. Arthur had commanded the knights to repel the raiders. It took them half a season to battle and then remained to ensure that none returned.

It was even then that Arthur and Camelot were not spared of calamities.

Tweet...tweet... 17/5... Dante's Book One almost done

My sincere apologies, I was in Hell with Dante for the last month.

I have 34 Canto to interpret and complete and now at Canto 30 which was insanely difficult to write in one month. It's all explained in Book One.

Meanwhile, in the realm we are still breathing in, I am into another lockdown for 3 weeks, hence the work activities went 'abyss' down and I had to use my time, hence I was writing and will be for the next 2 weeks; darned, it's been Hell.

I am telling you it's like a marriage; you thought you knew her, and when you finally get out of bed (pun intended), you saw on the dresser, the bottles and the cans; the flight controller's handheld flags (let's admit it looked familiar; you had a hand removing it), and the toilet seat is down. You were never told of it. before the whodunit before then. Then she comes and hugs you.

"All is forgotten, darling." Don't we say that after an argument about the Mother in Law.

In the last month, I read most of the Canto in Inferno like every other three lines, and understood every other three words, and constructed the other three words to make mine. I am saying if you are not into re-writing or adapting it, don't try to do what I did last four weeks. It was like me doing my thesis on my Mother in Law.

But there were moments which I enjoyed (pun intended, mother in 'law'.) where I was the "spitfire pilot' veering off the flight path with the ME109 on my back, and I do the twists and loops before I come in for the kill.... I know it sounded crazy here but that was how it was doing the book then.

And I am into the last loop at Canto 30 of 34, and my finger is on the trigger. I will admit I am praying my gun will work then, or it's a 'no no' day for me.

Baffled by my comments; don't be. I am nutty as like the squirrel hoarding nuts for the winter when the tree was to be cut down for Xmas decorations. Yes, it a mad mad world.

Tally ho, dinna worry. I will send the tale here soon when I am done with it by this week.

As for follow-up on Book II and III, I will dabble into it while I am in the mood. Or rather before Hell freezes over.

Cheerio, mate.

Arthur II Book III Chapter 30

30.

There was a thing about love; it can make you do things that you will never think of. That was a bag of coins was to provide. The mercenary took shares of it to give to the other five with him. He handed over the coins and then nodded. They all knew their tasks well. They rode to the villa that was owned by Antonio Marcellus. It was past dusk then.

“Open the gate. It’s me, Michel.” The gates opened at the request of the Head of Guards.

“You are late, Michel. That will come out from your coins.” The Head told Michel. “We are short of men as it’s. It’s your turn to man the gates. The rest of you take on sentry duties.”

The Head retired with the other who was relieved on their duties.

Antonio sat at the table with his mother seated at the other end of the long table that could seat eight persons. His eyes averted to Adele who stood behind the old lady. The girls have all went to Rome to be with Antonio’s relatives for a holiday and also in preparation for the coming wedding.

“Heidi’s wedding will remove a burden off you.”

“It will, Mother. Will you going then?”

“I am not. I have much to do here. And Adele is needed with me.” The old lady then got up. “Adele, please take me to my chamber.”

The maid did as she was told. Once inside the chamber, the old lady turned to Adele.

“I know you have taken the liberty of planning my demise. It will take place tonight.”

“I have not…” Adele protested but was cut off.

“Do not plea before me, just when you did years ago. It was not me who took you into the household but my lover. He had you pinned for what I was no longer offering then. When I knew that you and Antonio were in the same bedding, I had frowned on it. It was an insult that my son will find it in you to indulge his lust.”

“My Lady, I love Antonio.” Adele defended her love.

“A whore would have done the same when there are coins to be given.” The older lady snapped back. “You are no more than a whore. Fortunately, you are one man’s whore. I will give you access to my son however when all of this is over, you will leave him. Your presence cannot be allowed to tarnish the name of the Marcellus.” The older lady glared at Adele and then continued.

“Don’t be taken in with my death tonight by whomever you conspired with; I am not dead in this villa. My soul will still be here. And I will be watching as I did years ago when you were with my lover.”

“You are an evil person.” Adele could only make those words to the old lady/ “May you rot in your death.”

“And I shall with you watch me rot.” The old lady laughed. “I am a witch that has overtaken to be the host of the talisman that your mistress stole away. That spider is now my servant as were the serpents I unleashed on Augustus. I cannot fight off my destiny for my body to die tonight, but I can defy it to live on with my soul.”

Adele left the old lady with tears rolling down her cheeks. She was not to be released from the torment there with the Marcellus family. She was met by Antonio in the corridor.

“Did she hurt you?” Antonio led Adele to his chamber. “I will speak to her.”

“No, Antonio. Nothing you can do will change things. I will need to be alone.”

Alone was what Lancelot decided to be but he can’t don the black armor on his own. He was at the hut and was assisted by the Friar.

“It’s not unusual for you to ride in the dark, Sire.” Friar Tate raised his concern.

“I have a late task. Do rest. I will be back soon. I need to do this alone.” It was the instruction that the Friar had then. He watched the knight rode off and then followed himself on the donkey. He was concerned about the knight.

Lonely was also how Arthur felt when he received Galahad late at the night. He met the knight at the Hall.

“How did you fare, Galahad?”

“It was Aubin but then…”

“Then it’s resolved. Lamorak I was told by the druid has stopped bleeding and may require to rest.” Arthur was delighted.

“Arthur…. I meant Prime”, Galahad then confused in his mind chose to address the other by the Legion rank. “Aubin was possessed by a demon we encountered way back at Gaul. It was in Aubin since then, and only came to surface recently.”

“Why chose Lamorak? Why not you or Gawain or even Gaheris? They are your closest.” Arthur asked.

“I know what but I feared why.” Galahad paused. “It may be to split our ranks. Romans to the locals…”

“It’s nonsense! I will not hear of it. My land is open to all and equal to all who stay here. They are no citizenship upon service or to be acquired. Only the nobles are given the terms as per their … privileges but not anymore.”

“What of the Sarmatians? Are they …”

“They are on my land and hold no action against me, they may stay. The attack on Lamorak was not by them but by a ….man possessed and only his life forfeited will suffice.”

“I think not, Prime. Once words get out, there will be conflicts between us and them. And maybe much later, others will be there including the locals. You are their King by namesake, but you are still a Roman.”

“Silence, Galahad. I could still penalize you when your Decurion is not here. I am still…” Arthur stopped there. He knew inside he was not the Prime by the ranks. “I am their King and they will abide by my rules.”

“Now leave to rest.” Arthur dismissed the knight and then asked. “Did you kill the Sarmatians?”

“Yes, I did.” Those words will inflame the feelings of some others.

Inflamed was the feelings of Molly who had done her shed of tears upon learning that Lamorak was recovering. Her anger was directed at another who she thinks may have attacked Lamorak.

“Your brother attacked Lamorak out of …. Jealousy?” Molly looked at Gaheris. “How could I tell him we are over when he avoids me?”

“But Molly. My brother loves you...”

“Your brother may have but not anymore. And neither is me.” Molly looked at Gaheris. “Now leave me be.”

Gaheris left the tavern with weary shoulders.

“Hello, brother.” Gaheris turned to the familiar voice.

“Gawain? Is that you?” Gaheris rushed to embrace his brother. “We must talk. Galahad may be in trouble.”

“What did Galahad do?” Gawain asked.

“He killed the Sarmartians. Aubin Knur.”

“Tell me of it,” Gawain said.

The death of the Sarmatians soon rippled to the land. And the reception was different.

For Tristan, it was anger not to mention by Galahad to Arthur of his deed.

“If it was not my dagger, the knight would have been dead.” Tristan tossed the pugio at the wall of the stable. His sudden move had startled the horse in the pen near the wall.

“How can he not speak the truth?” Tristan looked at the horse. “Unless he was there to silence the other of the voice?”

Tristan had followed the duo on the fast ride to the settlement and then to the campfire. He had stayed away even when Galahad had scouted the area. He remained hidden and then went near to hear the conversation. It was then he heard the Sarmatians confront Galahad.

.“Did you attack Lamorak?” Tristan heard Galahad ask.

“Yes, I did. The Roman was to lure Percival.”

“You had Aubin to attack my friend?” Galahad asked.

“Was he your friend? He was with your lover, suckling her breasts like a child for milk, and leaving his seeds in her. Was that what you still call your friend?”

“He …. is. I was no more with Molly. He can have her.” Galahad revealed his heart feelings. “I am not ready for her.”

“And you won’t be when I am done with you.” The syaitan in Aubin’s body laughed before its voice was croaked by the blade from the rear into the back of the neck. It dropped the scimitar held in the hand and then turned to look at the backstabber.

He saw then Aubin laughed before he charged at Galahad. Tristan rushed forward and stabbed the dagger into the back of the neck. Soon after the death of the Samartian, Galahad had told Tristan that he was returning the Sarmatians to his people.

“Why must we do that? We should bring the body back to Arthur. He will want to see for himself the kill.”

“Aubin was my friend. I need to return his body to his people. They have their ritual for it. I will explain to Arthur.”

When Tristan heard less was spoken of him, he became upset.

“I will earn my seat at the round table. When I do, I will sit opposite you, Sir Galahad. As one who can see where you may go or do.”
