Legion Resurrected Chapter 7

7.

Michael
During the drive to the Diner. Michael slumped back to the seat, with his hands on the steering, he recalled the War then with the Fallen Ones.
“How can this be?” Michael was late to the staging area. He was on a task elsewhere and recalled. He saw then hundreds of the brethren equipping themselves with the warrior attire and weapons. While he walked past them, their eyes were on him.
Michael was the appointed leader.
Michael saw Gabriel at the assigned area. The later was putting on his chest plate when he was tapped on the shoulder. He turned and saw Michael.
“Is it real? I am told that we are to battle the ….”
“The Fallen Ones. They are thus named for they have betrayed their cause and sought to rebel against us.” Gabriel adjusted the straps on his chest. Michael saw then the Horn of Eden, the weapon of Gabriel for with that horn, he could rally the others or create mayhem among them.
“They are our brothers and sisters, Gabriel. They were allowed to visit the other dimension on the approval of the Supreme. Why now are we to battle them?”
“I know not why or how but I followed the command of the Supreme. I was told that the Fallen Ones were influenced by Lucifer. He had them to impart our knowledge and gifts to the mankind.” Gabriel replied.
“Was that not our intentions, Gabriel? We have created them in our image and naturally, they shall emulate us.”
“We are the superior beings. We can decide what they can emulate from us but never to improve on it without our consent.” Gabriel replied. “It’s unheard of before and now will not be sanctioned. Mankind will serve us and not us to them.”
“Then why make them in our image and not given the right to think like us?” Michael asked then. “It defeated the purpose of mankind.”
“You speak like Lucifer. Are you sure you are for us or for the Fallen Ones?” Gabriel had questioned the other. He then added to his statement. “It does not matter what we do or not to mankind, they are already doomed to fail.”
Michael then stood there and decided to seek the audience of the Supreme.
“There will be no audience. The command once issued cannot be retracted. Be with me, Michael. Defeat the Fallen Ones and then will we seek clemency for them. You do know the wrath of the Supreme is ever vengeful but you are the chosen one. Argue for them but only after the defeat of the Fallen Ones.”
Michael sighed. He knew inside him, he had battle to win and then will the defeated be forgiven. It was the mercy of the victor to forgive. And mankind to be saved.
“Who are you, my saviour?” Michael asked himself. His injuries were not severed but given time, he will recover. He did admit that it was his arrogance to face Turion without weapon. He thought the lower rank Seraph Warrior will see to his way but he was wrong.
“I am in the wrong dimension. Here, I am not the great and powerful warrior. I am only another warrior. More so, when I am without the power of Excalibur.” Michael smiled. He had known then that upon giving Excalibur to Gabriel, he was endangering himself but it was needed to avoid the rumours that the new war was to start. Here he will fight with the mankind and with its weapon. He looked to the rifle he had recovered from the boot. It was a Mankind weapon and with it he will fight.
“I failed once but not this time.”

The Diner
Percy heard the shooting and took aim with his own rifle. He remembered the elderly lady and was unsure of what these will become. He was a soldier and as one, you do not questioned orders. You do as was instructed by the officers. He assumed the shooting below was his order. He can’t be wrong for those below him at the gas pumps were turning into something hideous.
Kyle saw the other shooting and rushed to the railings. He was to hesitate but when he saw the figures below becoming what he termed as monsters, he took up aim and shot at them. He saw them went down and then regain their steps.
“Shoot at their heads!” Percy called out.
Kyle moved his aims towards the head and with the Colt firepower, he was blowing the brains out of heads.
“I am out.” Percy called out and then grabbed the spare rifle. Kyle had then leaned over and reload the rifle for Percy. He stood up and saw the streak of exhaust by the shoulder missile fired into the group.
“I’ll be damned.” Kyle cussed out when he saw a section of the crowd was brought down with only ashes to remain of their bodies.
Bob lowered the RPG launcher before he blinked his eyes. He had used similar models but they were shooting duds or at metallic plates. Then he had unleashed the missile at a bunch of hideous creatures. They were still advancing despite the cross fire of shooting. He thought of Jeep and grabbed the RPG. He laid it on his shoulder and then armed the weapon. He fired at eye level.
“Oh my God!” Bob muttered in his cracking voice. He had never killed so many people with one shot.
“Grab a rifle. It isn’t over yet.” Michael call shook Bob’s vision of death. The former was reloading his ammo clip with his sight on the outside. He can hear the two guy’s upstairs were still shooting. They were doing a sound task with their aims on the head of the group of people. The dead were replaced with more cars turning up and soon the place was piling bodies. He turned to see Bob shooting with the Winchester, and reloading upon empty loads. Charlie was still at the other side, holding guard on the area there. There was Jeep standing in between the old man and the lady but he was not shooting. He was eyeing the rear where the fridge held as barricade. The young lady was still cowering in shock upon the death of her parents. The hand gun given to her was on the flooring.
“They are retreating.” Bob called out. “Maybe we won.”
Michael knew that was an impossible possibility. He had never seen a Seraph Warrior give up. He looked out and saw the hordes of demons had withdrawn to the road but they were massing up in the numbers. He then recognized the leader among them.
Turion.
Kyle saw the retreat and stepped away from the railing. The rifle in his hands was heated and the platform was scattered with spent ammo shells. Percy was still leaning on the railing waiting for the second wave.
“I doubt they are coming …. Maybe not for now.” Kyle told the other. “I will reload for you.”
“Not much to reload. I can count the loads. It’s the last two before I used my hook.” Percy looked at Kyle. “I don’t think you have much too.”
“Nay, I am with my last clip. I still got the handgun, and ….” Kyle rummaged through the bag and drew out two grenades. “Flash ones.”
“Well, keep one. We might go off in a bang.:” Percy laughed. “What a way to go huh? God must be looking at us.”
“I doubt God will plan it for us. After all, we are two bad mad critters.” Kyle joked about it. He had prayed nightly for the relief on his life but since then, all he was empty promises. He had believed in God since his mother took him to Church, but the stints of staying afloat have left him with a tinge of sarcasm to God’s way.
“Old man, do you believe in Heaven and Hell?”
“Son, the name is Percy. It was for Perseus; the Greek God. I am like the name. I am brave and will fight for what I believed in. Since you asked me of Heaven and Hell? Well, in the span of my life, I have seen both. And they exist but above all, I am the man to live my life.”
“Pardon me, Percy but you are all crap.” Kyle laughed and was followed by Percy. The later the stopped and looked below.
“I think they are going to parlay with us.”
Kyle looked below and saw the figure approaching the Diner. He was concerned then. It could mean the end or the beginning of a new end.
“Michael, meet me out here. I am here to talk.” The doorway of the Diner opened and Michael appeared. He had left his rifle behind and approached Turion.
“There can be only one victor today, Michael. You know it too. Please hand us the child.”
“There will be one victor and that will be the child. Withdraw your minions and let the child decide on mankind.” Michael replied. “We have intervened too much into mankind. It’s time for them to live on their own.”
“Michael, as we speak now mankind has been doomed by their own choices.” Turion replied. “You of all the others should know this.”
From the distance, the noise of destruction could be heard. The skies in the horizon was blazing red in some places.
“It started then.” Michael then looked back at the Diner. “The saviour….”
‘The war had started. It’s their war and they will be exterminated.” Turion smiled. “No one can stop what the Supreme wants. Not even you. Not even the so believed saviour.”
Michael looked again to the horizon. It was as planned; the end of mankind was there. It was their own doing and the world will soon collapse into turmoil and mishap. Order will become chaos.
“I cannot stop the war but I can save the world with its new leader.”
“The child is not their leader. There will be no leader if the world dies.” Turion laughed. It’s the circle of retribution.”
“Retribution? Are we all living in loops of events?” Michael asked. “I intend to change the events to a new cycle.”
“Remember Michael. You tried before and failed.”
