Deep Heat II Chapter 1

Deep Heat II

Murder by proxy

1.

I disliked the hours that I was to wake up. It was always pre-dawn when the dreams will stir me up. It was always the same dream. I will see Sidney, Shawn, Nigel, and Alice all staring at me in the front row while at the rear were Connie Layton, and victims of the City Dumpster cases. They will be talking at the same time and I could not make any sense of what was spoken. I will rush towards them but they kept on fading to the rear until I collapsed on the ground.

“It’s dark precognition that resides in your memory. Something that you have not resolved.” That was not my psychiatrist but my Tarot Card reader friend. I am no true believer in science. I have my skeptical sights on some things really like the landing on Moon. I examined the articles and the revelations before I placed my faith in it. Ironical for the younger me who used to go to Church but since Sidney’s death, I had distance myself more from it. I became a recluse and with my clubbing, I picked up some new beliefs.

I was still at the old Station but I have my own office with the name etched on the glass door. It read “DCI Bernice Madden”. I looked to the old Section and the others; Vice and Narcotics. They are the same sections with the familiar faces. Darned, it felt good to be back. I was then given the news that my previous section was under Ian Duncan. He was doing good, having resolved some cases and happily married to Tabitha. It had been a year since my promotion. With the new rank of DCI, I was deskbound and missed the groundwork. And sadly, to the statement, we had no major cases to work on like the previous Dumpster Killing. There were cases of murders but those were minor in comparison. Even Vice have an easier year with small busts and no commendations. Narcotics mumbled on ‘small fishes in the net’. Statistically, we were in our comfort zone.

My life as the bitch had not mellowed and was actually holding my relationship with another. She was my Tarot Card reader but her paying job was as a Doctor in the ER Department. We met at the club and while drinking, she took out the Tarot Cards. She offered to read my life. I patronized her request and watched her dealt with the cards.

“You have no closure in an event that affected you.” The bitch turned the card faced up. I smiled at her.

“The Sun is reversed. It meant you are depressed.” The bitch in turn smile back at me. “Let me go on.”

The follow-up card was the Temperance. And the next was the Death. It was that card that hit my nerves in the mind. I was still thinking of Sidney on most nights. More than I ever did when he was breathing across the distance of the city.

“You hold the fear of change, but the Temperance held that you are patient with it.” Yes, my group of bitches has left me, and I was in the wild like the lone wolf. My Tarot cards then revealed Justice.

“Yet you seek clarity. What bothers you, love?”

Her calling me love unnerved me then. I was not prepared for the declaration of affection. I have my bitches but love was never in the fuck. It was just the plain act of doing it for me. The bitch then held out her right hand.

“Do you have a place we can go?” It was how we started. I did not ask what she does then but soon was to find out. We are both in service to the community albeit one of us carries a gun while the other the scalpel.

“Did I wake you?” I heard the soft voice from the bed. The bitch was awake. Doctor Elizabeth Tan of the Chinese descent rolled to her back with the right arm over her forehead. I knew she came back late at night after the handling of ER cases at the hospital. In comparison to my works, I was the potato couch while she was the maid.

“No, you did not.” I climbed back in and the inviting warmth of her body soon curled on mine. I held her face and laid my lips on her sleeping eyes. She replied with the rubbing of her left leg over my hips and then ground her pelvis towards me. We were separated by the sleeveless vest she wore to bed while I was naked on the bed. Liz was what I called her, have the vest since her residences training years when her lover, who was the doctor in the hospital, had given her then. The lover died in a car accident six months later. Initially, I harbor the jealousy that she still kept the vest, but it soon rescinded into just another vest.

“How will your day turn out?” I asked her as if I don’t know.

“The usual fare, the sirens, and the screaming and then the treatments with the blood splattering over the floor, and maybe some organs too.” Liz laughed. “Like when I did my stint at the Morgue but that was eerie quiet. What will be yours?”

“Paper works and twirling the pencil to write more reports.” I do miss my task as the Inspector where I get called for the crime that happened daily. The rush to the scene, the calling for the Section to take on the needed evidence and screaming at Forensics to rush the collection. Then it was back to the desk to ponder the details and called in the suspects and the glaring at the lawyers who will advise their client to remain silent or no comment. That was different from the Chief Inspector. I was coordinating cases after examining the available shreds of evidence. Thereafter, I will use the truncheon to shaft into the Inspector or Sergeant asses.

Talking about asses, I never gave it much thought after Sidney’s death. I am not obliged to his son’s or daughter’s and heck if they want to mine, I have the hole in me but it’s all mine. Or shared with my lover. At work, the ass on the line is more of my reputation. I do have the Station Commander over my rank but she hardly speaks to me anymore unless it’s official. I report mostly to the Assistant Chief Constable and unless there are some major crimes. I was doing the papers most days.

An hour later with the quickie sex done, and the follow up scrubbing under the steaming hot shower to wash away the grime off the body, we were soon in our routes to work. Liz drives a Japanese compact while I opt for the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-7R with the red coating. The biker was a multi-winner of the superbike championship but that was not my reason to get it. It was the need for speed; at a top speed of two hundred and fifty kilometers an hour, it was my kind of a bike to release my stress. The bike roared on the ride, with its airbox snarl that sounded like it will rip off the visor off your rival rider, and with the right tuning, it was a speed monster on the road. During the cold weather, I clean out the carbs regularly to avoid the bad morning starts. Above all, I like the feel on the road. It gives me the feel of a good ride.

I kept my two sets of official uniforms, the dark suit and white blouse in the Station locker. When I ride, I am in my zippered red suit and matching jacket with a dark helmet and visor. Due to my reputation, I need to adhere to the speed limits but I do when available time, I will take the bike to the outskirts of the city and give it the ride the bike was designed for. I will speed past the incoming city drivers and then hit the country roads to wake up the pasture creatures for their late breakfast if any was left. My daily breakfast was coffee and toast with marmalade on my desk served by the tea lady.

I thought my career would be cushy until I retired. The other alternative was to open my legs and be prepared to be a mother and then after grandmother. I was not for it. I don’t bother with my biological clock. I was into the life journey.
Well, it was far from it when the morning breaking news displayed a calamity.

Legion Resurrected Chapter 17

17.

Lucifer
Lucifer stood by the roadside and looked at the Diner. He had arrived with Charlie by the vehicle he had taken from the owner. He had realized that Charlie was not any lady that he had met. He had known her for some weeks, not knowing why he was attracted to her. He could have any ladies to his charms, but why the lady named Charlie. And more so when she was with a child. He treated her well and charmed his way around her.
“Stan, would you love the child?”
“Silly of you. It’s to be our child Of course, I will.” Lucifer in his assumed identity as Stan replied. “I love you.”
Those were empty words that he normally uttered to the many ladies he had seduced but then with Charlie, he felt differently. He smiled to himself at his emotions; he had always treasured one love that was his Lilith before she left him for Adam. He had confronted Lilith then.
“It was a task that I needed to accomplish,” Lilith told him then. “We are to be the forefront of humanity in that dimension. It’s a pioneering task. There will be any after his maybe not for long. Can you …”
“What of us? I have been your mate for …” Lucifer declared.
“Far too long, If I ignore this task, I am one of many here. But with that task, I am one too many. I am the progeny of mankind.” Lilith had explained further. “No more reasoning, Lucifer. Be content we had an encounter before.”
It was how Lucifer should have felt with Charlie but he was drawn to her. He had taken her away from the city when he felt that their existence was threatened. He felt that they were watched and then decided to fled with her. He drove her out of the city but the journey of his was to end at the Diner. He had taken her into the Diner and then excused himself to the car. He stood by the car and looked at the Diner.
“Charlie, I know of the child. I also know that if I am with you, I may endanger you and the child. I need to distance from you but I promised to be back when the child is born.” Lucifer muttered to himself then. He saw Charlie looking at him.
“Did you say something?” Charlie asked when she stepped off the car
“Nope. It must be the winds. I thought you wanted to use the bathroom? Go on ahead. I will fill up the gas.” It was his departing words to her. Soon after she stepped into the Diner, Lucifer was making his steps to leave. He drove the car off then. Unknown to him then, Azrael and Lilith had tailed him to the Diner. They confer on the issue and decided that to leave Charlie alone for the time being.
“The child will be handled only after birth. We do not move for now.” Lilith told Azrael. “Monitor Lucifer. If he returns, remove him.”
“I have left words with the Angels.” Lilith has an alliance with the Angels after the war. “They will whisper the existence of the child to the Supreme.”
“As if he does not know?” Azrael replied in a sarcastic tone.
“It does not matter. What we need is the balance to win the war.” Lilith smiled. “I have awaited a lifetime for this. Lucifer may hold that key. We need him defeated but alive to reveal the key.”
Azrael nodded to the words of his leader. It was Lilith who told him to hide and research on the defeat of the Fallen. She had said that even the Gods have another more powerful than them. It had paid off, and the child was their salvation and with the new Gods, the Fallen may come to strength once more but under her leadership. For his own safety, Azrael stayed close to Lilith.

Survivals
The three Angels and Fallen charged at the demons advancing on them. Lucifer’s trident flames flared towards the demons, and the blue flames burned at the demons on contact. The smell of burnt flesh of the demons soon assaulted Lucifer’s smell. His flame flared to a distance of fifty feet was like a whip that lashed out at the demons. It soon formed a circle with burnt demons on the ground.
Michael’s Excalibur was a weapon that he needed to wield into the demons. Its length was the blade but the sword cut into the demons flesh as if it was wafer-thin. It severed the demons of its limbs or the slashed across the chest to remove the head. The demons fought back with their talons and fangs whichever that came close to its contact.
“Die, beast!” Michael slashed at the demon which towered twice his height and held four arms and the head of a minotaur. He slashed at the left lower limb to bring the beast down to its knees and then with a backward slash, he removed the two upper limbs across the shoulder. He then twisted his hands to bring the sword down on the horns and cut away the head into two. He then felt the impact of another from the rear and brought him to lunge forward. He was headed to another huge beast with the serpent head and its scaly frame when his wings spread out to levitate him. He flew upwards and then did a turn to swoop on the demon that hit from the rear. He swung the sword to remove the bull’s head from its frame. He held the sword with both hands and had it leveled in front to fly into the demons. He swung his sword in small slashes to cut through the demons in its path before he swoops up.
“Rise, brothers!” Gabriel held the Horn to rally the Seraph Warriors that had joined him. He saw the Seraph Warriors descent with their wings swept back and held various weapons from the swords to the mace, and war hammers. They tore into the ranks of the demons and fought towards the three warrior leaders. Not all of them were able to fight through. Gabriel saw one warrior he knew as Tumis was caught by the left foot by the towering demon who had then pulled the Seraph Warrior to the ground. When the warrior was pulled down, the surrounding hordes of demons jumped on the fallen warrior. They engaged in a fury attack on the warrior, with their ferocity they tore into the warrior’s frame. The warrior was soon into pieces within seconds.
“No!” Lucifer saw the warrior went down. He rushed over with his trident creating a path and soon he faced the towering demon that still held a part of the foot. Lucifer in his anger struck the trident into the demon and called on the flames to engulf the frame. The flames covered the demon and then it flared out to the nearby demons. The towering demon was reduced to ashes within seconds alongside the other burned demon.
“Beware my wrath, demons!” Lucifer called out. “I am the Devil himself.”
“The battle is turning against us,” Lilith called on Azrael. “Unleash the demons from the Dark Cauldron now.”
Azrael heard her call. One of his findings during his hidden time was the Dark Cauldron. It was a portal gateway into another dimension called the Banish Dimension. Unlike Hades, the dimension held the foul and evil forms that the other dimensions will not accept. He did not find it but was awarded to him by the Celestial. He had handed it to Mother Lilith.
“Yes, my lady.” Azrael stood next to the cauldron and then read the ancient verses over it. The hands that were seen inside the cauldron soon reached out and from it, the frames of more hideous demons soon climbed out. The first one to climb out was a mass of flames. From the flames, that snaked to the height above Man, a form was soon forming to a towering figure with limbs; twice the height of Man. It was a narrow frame demon with the lengthen upper limbs that reached to the feet, and its head was a rectangle form with the four sets of eyes on all sides and the gaping double mouthpiece with the protruding fangs.
“Behold the demon from the Banish!” The demon on its appearance lashed out with his upper lengthen limbs at Lucifer. The limbs lengthened to reach Lucifer to grab the trident.
“Unhand your hold, demon.” Lucifer pulled hard at the trident but it was a battle of strength then. With his trident restraint, Lucifer was exposed to attacks by the demons. They raged onto Lucifer but Michael was on hand to defend the other.
“I will watch your back,” Michael told Lucifer but the former was then confronted by another demon from the Banish Dimension. That newly arrived demon was a spherical frame of translucent form which the sword was not able to cut in.
“Retreat!” Michael called out. He then turned his sword onto the demon in the battle of strength with Lucifer. The sword cut into the extended limb and severed it at the wrists. Lucifer got his trident back and retreated with Michael. He was followed by Gabriel.
“We are losing the battle, Michael,” Gabriel reported in. “The Seraph Warriors are dwindling in the numbers.”
“Back to the Diner,” Michael called out. “We need to reinforce there.”
In the Diner, Bob saw the three warriors were retreating to them. He grabbed the nearest gun he could reach. It was the AK 47; one of the few from Percy’s collection. He stepped out and leveled the gun at the demons. The bullets impacted on the demons and bought some time for the warriors. Soon he tossed the gun when the bullets ran out. He followed in with the warriors and close the door.
“The demons are not following in,” Percy told them. “They are not coming in.”

Legion Resurrected Chapter 16

16.

Lucifer
Azrael upon leaving Lucifer had made his way to his own hideout. It was a shack in the open desert. From the outside, it looked like an abandoned shack but once inside the first encounter will be the demon that guards it. The demon was a fierce poltergeist with the tendency to hurt the mortals. Azrael stepped into the shack which was devoid of any furniture except a few broken pieces; a chair without a leg, or the table that was broken into half and the shelf with the missing rows. The poltergeist was crouched on the beam across the ceiling and looking down. It recognized its master.
Azrael moved the chair towards the table and then he chanted the ancient verses. The table formed back into its original position and the chair had its leg replaced. He then climbed onto the table from the chair and the portal gateway was opened and Azrael was swallowed by the portal. On the other side, Azrael found himself in the great void of darkness. He then called out to his Master.
“Master Celestial, I called on you. I am …”
“I hear you, Azrael of the Fallen.” The voice resonated in the dark void and yet it was not determined from where it came. Azrael had escaped the defeat of the Fallen in the war and fled the fighting. He was not hurt nor was he a coward, but he knew when the odds were against them. He was cornered by three Angels in the desert.
“Isiah, Matthew, Rubbia. All of you knew me. Spare me.” Azrael pleaded with them soon after they defeated him. He was a warrior himself but against the three Seraph warrior, he was outclassed.
“We will bring you in. Did you know Lucifer was defeated by Michael? He awaits judgment. And you will do so too.” Isiah told Azrael. “We …”
Those words were not uttered for the three Seraph Warriors were attacked by a dozen demons from all sides. The demons were fierce and relentless in their attacks. They tore the wings off the Angels and then pounded their talons into the flesh. Once it was done, they feasted on the dead Angels. One of the demons then approached Azrael. With its fangs covered with blood and morsels of flesh, it spoke to Azrael.
“You are summoned.” With that, Azrael found himself in the dark void. That he stood then. Soon he was to sworn servitude to the new Master. And to Mother Lilith.
Master Celestial.
“Lucifer is with the child.”
“I am aware. Unborn and yet the child holds protectors to it.”
“Should I follow Lucifer and killed the child-bearer?” Azrael had asked.
“No, the child must be born to start the war anew. With that, we will step in and defeat them all. No other will ever challenge me on the dimensions.”
“What is so special of the child?” Azrael asked.
“The chid is Legion. It’s the scale of power between Chaos and Order. It cannot be defeated by either of us but together we may do it.” Master Celestial replied. “Legion must be destroyed for us to rule in the dimensions.”
“Prepare the Army. We will strike soon. And chaos will prevail without order.” A cauldron appeared before Azrael. “Treasure this. It will be our portal to bring forth the demons from neither dimension. It will be the reinforcement to your army of demons.”

Survivals
Bob looked to the assembled in the Diner. He saw disbeliefs and concerned in their minds. He has little time then and it was then the child cried out. He was to reach for it, but Charlie did. It was the maternal instinct in her to reach for the child she borne. She hushed the child while cuddling it.
“It’s not safe here anymore. We must go to Atlantis.” Bob told the others. “Once there, we can call on the Ancient Ones to protect us.”
“Atlantis? Am I daft or loony?” Jeep cut in and have drawn the gun from his holster. “I am not going anywhere until I get some answers.”
“There will be no killing here.” Percy moved towards Jeep. “You will get you…”
The shot impacted on Percy’s chest from Jeep’s gun. Percy fell down to his knees holding his wound there. Kyle rushed over to assist the fallen man. He has developed a liking for the other man who stood with him in fighting the minions. He looked at Jeep.
“Why did you shoot? He was no threat.” Kyle looked at the wound. It was a fatal one and the blood was over the wound. Jeep had the look of dismay and lowered the gun.
“Aegeus …. Atlantis,” Percy called Bob by his real name. Bob looked at Gabriel. He told Gabriel to use the Horn.
“Call on Atlantis with the Horn. It’s the only way to find it.” Bob looked to Gabriel who was not convinced then. It was Michael who nodded to him to try.
“Atlantis was a myth even to us. Its appearance was never documented in the annals. It was a rift in the dimensions. The Seraph Warriors who investigated the city never were found. We were barred from going there ever again.”
“Try, please. We are going to be attacked.” Bob pleaded. “We need to get away.”
Gabriel reached the Horn to placed it to his lips. He focused his mind on Atlantis. It was difficult for he had no vision of Atlantis. He searched hard and then the warning came.
“Do not challenge me.” Those words were from the Supreme. Gabriel lowered the Horn. He will not defy the Supreme.
“Why are you not blowing?” Bob looked at Gabriel. He then looked towards Michael and Lucifer. “Is he …”
“He is doing it. Something is wrong.” Michael replied. “I wish I knew.”
“We have not the time to ask. The demons are advancing on us.” Lucifer called on the trident in his right hand. “It’s time for your act. Michael. Call on Excalibur. The true Excalibur.”
Outside the Diner, Lilith saw the demons have brought the cauldron as per her request. It measured three feet across in diameter and was two feet in height with half an inch in thickness. When peeked into the cauldron, you will see only darkness and then when the eyes were to adjust to the darkness, you will see the outreaches of the hands.
“Place it there.” Lilith gave the order. Azrael stood by her. She looked at him. He was the one who introduced her to the Master Celestial. She was his current lover, after her strings of lover including Lucifer. Lilith was discovered to be more powerful and soon placed by the Master to lead his army replacing Azrael.
“Azrael, call on the demons to attack. Harm, not the child.”
Michael, Lucifer, and Gabriel stepped outside with their weapons drawn. Michael had the blade inserted into his right-hand gauntlet. He then called on the power of Excalibur.
“I called on the power of Excalibur. I, Michael of the Angels command thee.” The blade on the gauntlet glowed and then it extended out until it covered the entire right hand. The blade then widens to the width of the hand and extended out by four feet.
“I called on the Hell Flames to fight for Hades.” Lucifer waved the trident with his right hand in a swoop from right to left and then held the staff on the trident with both hands.
“I called on the Power of the Horn to open the portal that will bring forth the Seraph Warriors.” The skies above sprouted a series of portal openings and from each portal, groups of the Seraph Warriors were seen flying through. They numbered only a hundred compared to the hundreds of the demons.
“Brothers, let us battle as one today. No more the Fallen or the Angels. Only brothers.” Lucifer called out. Inside the Diner, Jeep had taken to load the guns with whatever ammo they have. It was not much but they each had a weapon.
“Keep the last bullet for yourself.” Jeep called out and then turned to Charlie who was holding the handgun in her hands with the child cuddled close to her.
“You will be fine.” Jeep told her. Charlie did not answer him but kept on holding the child. Earlier, she had discarded the child earlier but the cry of the child reached into her soul. She was upset at Lucifer or Stan for what he did to her. She was not sure if the child was theirs’ but above all, the child came from her womb. For all she cared, he may be the next Devil but the child was still hers’. She looked at the sleeping child; a smiling Angel with the lips pouted and the nose that resembled her. Her tears flowed from her eyes on the thought that she had walked away after birth. She should not have done it. She will make up for the dreadful part of her. She will protect her child.
“Use this, if I don’t make it.” Jeep handed her the grenade. He had kept it on him during the fight. He wanted to use it for them but he feared he may not be able to do it.
“Kyle…... do you believe the words the other say?” Audrey turned to Kyle. “I am confused.”
“Huh? Oh, that you are you. Forget the crap. You are who you are and we will not die here.” Kyle assured the young lady. He was of the faith and does not believe all this mumbo spoken. For all, he cared, Bob and Percy was cranky fools. Gun dealers for sure with the stash of guns, but whatever else they claimed to be, he had seen those who were like Bob. In the war, some of them cannot make it through without taking some drugs or beliefs in wild thoughts. He had seen friends who were so bent in their thoughts that they were committed to asylum on returning. The doctors called it PST but he knew that it was brought on by fear.
“My dad and mum? They…” Audrey was on the edge. “I don’t know…”
Kyle held out his arms towards her. He had not known the kid long but the last hours flew fast and the lady was alone. She needed help and above all, comfort.
“No…. I don’t want you.” Audrey rejected his hands. She walked towards Charlie to sit next to her. Kyle pulled his hands back. He was then met by Percy who had his wound bandaged.
“Give her time. And for you, time will reveal the real you.” Percy spoke to Kyle.
“Stay away from me. You are mad. I am not dead. I am still the Kyle known to all. I was not …. Destined …to be here. I came here because it was a stop. And that’s all.”
“Stay away from me and she or I will …. kill you for good.” Kyle threatened Percy. He then stepped to the window and saw the battle had begun.

Legion Resurrected Chapter 15

15.

Lucifer
“Lucifer, you are mad,” Azrael shouted at him. “You can’t have the child. You will attract the Celestials.”
“The heck I can’t. The child is mine.”
“With a mortal? Lucifer, you should know by now. We don’t produce well offsprings? Remember the Nephilim?”
“Azrael, Charlie is my …. Lover.”
“As many there were. What were their names? Lucifer? How many were there?” Azrael snapped in anger. “Who was the first? Do you remember?”
“Lilith….” Lucifer muttered the name of his first love.
“Lilith?” Azrael mumbled with his mind twisted then.
“She was Eve soon after she met Adam. She named herself soon after the selection.” Lucifer replied. “Why do you ask? I know you like her.”
“Nothing personal. Let us talk of the child.” Azrael asked then.
“I believe it’s the child that Charlie is having,” Lucifer told the other. “I am not truly its father. You know we cannot have any with them after our oath on the defeat. However, I am close to her. I knew she was with a child and somehow, I am drawn to her. And the child. The unborn child.”
“It’s unborn?” Azrael had raised the question.
“Yes, she is not due yet. I left her some weeks back.” Lucifer smiled. “I am not a good lover. Now I need to find her.”
“You have to. She may be the mother of the child.” Azrael then sighed. “If only I had known…”
“Known of what? Azrael, you are not telling me the truth.” Lucifer confronted the other. “You went missing in the war. You were missing for a long time. Then you turned up and asked a lot of questions. I cannot say you shouldn’t but I have questions of my own. Like the Mage Book.”
“I won’t tell you. I can’t tell you.” Azrael replied. He started to move away. It was then Lucifer reached out to him. He pushed the hands-off and backed off.
“Don’t force me. I am not your follower. I am Azrael.” With that, Azrael pushed Lucifer off and left. It was then Lucifer went off to look for Charlie.

Survivals
“More guns? M240? Bazooka? Mortars? Where is the ammo? You have none and how do you expect to fight. Perhaps you want to toss it at them.” Those were the heavies that Bob and Percy had hidden in the basement. Lucifer scoff at the offering.
“Those won’t last a minute out there. Do you know how many of those demons are out there?” Lucifer looked at them. “I have my trident and Michael his sword. We may last a lifetime but all of you will be dead by the seconds.”
“No, they are not what I meant.” Bob stepped aside from the heap of weapons. He then looked at Percy. “I thought you arranged them in order after the last dealing.”
“Not me. The Mexican rejected it and I left it there.” Bob ignored the reply by Percy while he pushed the weapons aside and removed the planks below. He drew out the two volumes from the dust. The volumes were of book size and it was thin in the pages. He passed a copy to Percy.
“Now we have books? What? To read them to sleep.” Lucifer was getting agitated.
“Let me explain ourselves. We are not any passer-by or coincidence to be here. We were waiting for her to come. We were to protect her. I am part of the reader of the Elder Scrolls, or the Aedric Prophecies.” Bob was interrupted by Michael. He was surprised at the revealing of the scrolls. He had not sensed the presence of anything mythical there in the Diner.
“I heard of the Aedric Prophecies. It’s the fragments of creation from outside time itself, described as pieces of the divine. They are the namesake of the Elder Scrolls series. The immensely powerful artifacts are of unknown origin though likely Aedric, and their nature remains an incomprehensible mystery to most….”
“You are well informed, Michael.” Bob cut in. “The Scrolls themselves tell of future and past events, but this is just a small part of their power. The Elder Scrolls are completely enigmatic; they do not exist, and simultaneously have always existed. Just like all of you. You are an Angel and yet in this dimension you were not to exist in the physical state.”
“The actual number of scrolls is unknown,” It was Percy continued on. “Because they do not exist in countable form. Once, after rumors that a Scroll had been stolen from the Imperial Library in the White-Gold Tower, the Imperial Librarian attempted to do an inventory of the Scrolls, but it proved impossible as the number and placement of the artifacts constantly fluctuated for no discernible reason. It was claimed that the scrolls are aligned to the events of the dimensions. Not only here but the other dimensions too.”
“The Scrolls are said to pierce the walls of the dimension,” Bob took over. “It’s giving glimpses of the flux of time itself. Though any person with prescient powers who is properly trained can read and interpret the contents of the Elder Scrolls with much practice, this peering into the fabric of reality has a terrible price. With each new reading and foretelling, the reader will gain a greater understanding of the Scrolls but will be struck with blindness for a greater period, eventually, inevitably, losing their vision permanently and are forever deprived of their ability to read the Scrolls. Even for the Angels.”
“I was told that reading an Elder Scroll is described as a mind-shifting view into infinity. It was forbidden to us, the Angels.” Michael added in.
“Not entirely true. For one who had read the Scrolls held four possible outcomes: those who have no training like the Scrolls will see nothing at all upon the parchment, or a mess of odd lettering at best. Subjects who have some understanding of the Scrolls are in the greatest danger: they are immediately struck completely and irrevocably blind. The third group trained from young are disciplined enough to guard their minds while reading the Scrolls, often spending a decade in training before reading their first. Their vision fogs, but they can read mundane parts of the Scroll, though the knowledge they gain needs meditation and reflection to communicate what they saw. The fourth and final group, though there is a continuum between, are only of experienced ones. They could obtain greater and more detailed knowledge than any other, but eventually, there comes a day of Penultimate Reading whereupon the next reading, they are forever blinded but retain their knowledge over a lifetime. But when is it they won’t know?”
“And who are you?” Lucifer asked.
“We are the fifth group. We do not read the scrolls but we protect them by putting rights the events that unfold before it. And its reader to continue the flow.” Bob then paused before he continues. “The Readers of Moth.”
“The child will be that leader of The Moth. And we are to protect the leader until the child is ready to put right the balance.”
“Are you implying the events are not unfolding as planned in the scrolls? And what gives you the right to correct that balance?”
“It may take a lifetime to explain the scrolls. We are out of time here. We need to leave with the child. The sanctuary is not here.” Bob cut in. We must go to ….”
Percy cut in. “We need to move the child away. Its only safe in one location.”
“Atlantis,” Bob exclaimed the name when he continued his words.
“And you are mad.” Lucifer laughed. “No one knows where Atlantis is? Not even us.”
“Not true. Atlantis was hidden from all of you. Not by the Supreme but by the First Gods itself. Atlantis was their realm within the dimensions. It moved from one level to the next, in the shadows watching and learning and recording as it was for the scrolls. It was a living city.”
“More bullshit!” Kyle finally spoke then. “I have heard enough. All this is bull shit. My faith will not be …”
“Deterred? Yes, you shall not be. For you only a part of the vision here. All of you are.” Bob cut in. “Including you, Jeep.”
Jeep had been listening and felt the whole event since the arrival of those minions or whatever they are called. Then all those revelations were mile-high tales.
“Jeep, you are not my son per se. This body is your biological father named Bob, but inside this physical frame, Bob does not exist. Inside this body is my soul. I am Aegeus of the Moth Elders. I am with Belen, the one you knew as Percy. We were warriors of the Moth Elders. We were sent here to protect the child. And the few of you.”
“What happened to…” Jeep was devastated.
“Bob died in the war. He was killed in an ambush. So was Percy. Both of us stood in for them.” Bob continued on. “Look to yourself. During the fighting, were you afraid?”
“Were you?” Bob looked at Kyle. “None of you did. None of you are who you are. Audrey died years ago. She is Charlee.”
“Both Jeep and Kyle, you are not who you may be. We will explain later but right now ….”
“No! Tell what of Charlie?” Jeep asked.
“Charlie is …. Charlie. She is the mother of the child.”  Bob explained it all.
“I can’t believe you at all.” Jeep snapped out in anger.
“Yeah, more bull shit.” Kyle scoffs at Bob.

Legion resurrected Chapter 14

14.
Lucifer
“My name is …”
“Lucifer, we know.” The voice bellowed to the Fallen Angel. “We have been around when darkness prevailed and then the light appeared.”
Lucifer had not met the Celestials, but he knew Azrael held possession of the Book; The Mage Book. He asked for it. The Mage Book was lost in time for it was hidden from the Gods, it wrote of the hidden dimension over the dimensions. The Mage Book was a threat to the Gods. It held many chapters on the verses to call on the Old Gods. The Celestials were not mentioned but there was a reference to Chaos. And the coming forth of the Erebus and Black Night. And from Night, came the Day, and one other Aether, both from the union of Chaos and Erebus.
“I am an Aether.”
A name then unknown to Lucifer but the more he read of the Mage Book he began to understand it all. Aether was one of the Primordial Gods. The Gods before the Gods that Man was to worship. Aether was not a form but a swirl of energy aura. It heightened above Man, and yet it remained fluid in its movement.
“You are not familiar in my real form. I shall form a frame which you might be comfortable.” The energy waves combined and the frame of a Man was seen; clad in the plain knee-length tunic and on the head was a crown of gold leaves.
“I am Aether, the creation of Chaos and Erebus. We are the Primordial Gods. The Gods before the Gods that you know. We brought your day and night, life and death, chaos and peace.”
“I am an Angel and leader of the Fallen.” Lucifer introduced himself. He had used the Book to call on a portal that allowed him to move into the Hidden Dimension. He was found himself in a realm without any light. Or day.
Only darkness. Lucifer read the verses that he thought was the right one. Then after he could not see himself beyond his own eyes. He knew he had traveled to the Hidden Dimension. He was there, in the whole form and yet he was incorporeal. He reached out with a right hand to his chest. He felt nothing there as if his hand had traveled into his body. He moved his hand down what was his chest and felt nothing. He clasped his fingers and felt nothing.
He was nothing and yet he could the voice.
“And I know. You came here to seek the answers to the answers of your questions in your mind. I am impressed that as an Angel you have the need to question. I thought all of you knew the answer. “
“I … I am confused.” Lucifer replied.
“You are not, Lucifer of the Fallen. You are vindictive and above all a leader. You sought the fall of the Angels. You ought me to do that but I won’t. For there are more to concern me with than your petty war.”
“I am mistaken then, Aether. You are not who I sought.” Lucifer replied. “I shall fight on by myself.”
“You fight the Supreme? I could do that however I have not.  But I will tell you who could.”
“The child?” The words came to Lucifer as if he knew but did not then. “I heard of a child.”
“The child? You are an interesting one, Lucifer. The answer may lie with you. The child yet to borne by the lady and her birth had to be hidden. Her child is of the Gods.”
“Who is her? Her name?”
“You will be the guardian. You are not the father but its Guardian. As there will be others.”
“Who?” Lucifer was banished.
“Be wary of this, Lucifer. Among those of us, there will be others who will not have her here in the dimension. So be wary and be careful. Call not upon me unless you need to.”
“But when will that be?” Lucifer asked.
“In time, you will know.” Lucifer found himself standing in the same spot before he was transported. At that time, Lucifer knew he had to find a child.
The Child who could fight the Angels.
He knew not which child that was. He only knew of one then. Charlie’s baby. It could be but he may be wrong.
Or right then the war will be over.
“A child to fight my war?” Lucifer asked himself and then laughed. “I may be losing my mind over it. But hear me out, Aether of the Primordial Gods. I will have you called upon when I need you. Be there or I will challenge you as I did with the Supreme.”
“I am Lucifer the leader of the Fallen. Hear my name and tremble.”

Survivals
The minions have swept aside like specks of dust from the dark hordes of demons of all shapes and looks. It was as if a swarm of locusts had cleared the farms. If numbers were to be applied, they were in the thousands. Gabriel reached for the blade but his gauntlet was without it. He felt for the Horn when he was dragged from behind by someone. He looked behind and saw it was Michael.
“To the Diner.”
Everyone outside was soon in. The swarm stopped short of the finer. Michael did a headcount. There was Kyle and Audrey, Jeep and Charlie, and there was Percy.
And there was Gabriel and Lucifer.
“Eight of us will remain here. Together or we will perish.”
“Eight? You counted wrong. We are nine.” Gabriel voiced out. Everyone looked at the Angel. Gabriel motioned to the baby left on the floor. “Nine is the finality of judgment when it’s the time of judging the person and his works.”
“In the Far East, I learned of the significance of Nine. In Numerology, it’s the symbol of wisdom and initiation. It the last number before the next harmony.” Percy added in. “The child is the Nine.”
“It’s also a combination of 333. The signs of Angels that you are protected, loved and on the right path.” Michael added in.
“Enough of the numbers. We are down to nine. I assumed we are for I don’t know who was here before me but I do know that we are outnumbered here.” Lucifer broke the subject matter.
“Okay, we need to go.” Michael snapped in. “We need to find a way out. Gabriel, can you get us out?”
Gabriel looked at his Horn. He was confused. He had no idea where to go. With the Horn, he needed a location.
“I know of one.” Lucifer cut in. “I read of it in the Mage Book.”
“A fucking book? I heard of no such book. Are you loony?” It was Percy who snapped in then. “I have enough. I am calling in the heavy kinds of stuff.”
“Percy, let us haul the heavies out.” Bob called Percy. “Damn, I thought it will be a standoff and ended by yesterday.”
The others were puzzled.  Both the elderly men walked to the basement entrance. They cleared the area around it and stepped down. Then the call came for the others to join in.
“And bring along the baby.”
Outside the Diner, the demons were feeding with frenzy when their leader arrived. The figure was shrouded in the white pale cloth cover from shoulders down to below the toes, and the figure was floating above the demons. The figure was feminine with the body figure and the hair that reached way below the knees.
“Hail, Mistress Lilith.” The floating figure was addressed by the demons that had stopped their feeding. “We await your command.”
Lilith looked to the Diner when her toes reached the ground. She was not alone. Her two personal guards, demons covered in the dark shroud from head to toes and held the long handle scythe in their right hands. They were followed behind by a group of six others but they held no weapons. They were the Messengers.
“My command is that of the Grand Master. I am his servant as you are mine.” Lilith looked to the demons. “Remember this, you serve me. And me alone. And from me to the Grand Master.”
The demons there murmured which may their version of cheers. She then looked to the Diner.
“The Child is there. The Guardians are with the Child. I can feel the Guardians are getting ready. We have a battle forthcoming. Summon the others. The war has been dragged too long. It will end today. And here.” The surrounding demons roared with loud murmurings.
“Prepare the demons. Bring the Cauldron. Azrael shall also be here. Then the battle will begin.” The Messengers floated away.
