Tweet..tweet...09/12/16 The father's work is never ending

At 2135hrs 8th December 2016, my son stormed ( they thinketh they were Stormtroopers trained ) and confronted me,

"Dad I need help."
At the tender age of twenty, he could do a lot of damage that required my help and honestly post-natal was one of it in my mind. He was long 'over due post natal' anyway. With the mum's help, All other motions in life was deemed inactivated.

This is the result I had to churned out in one hour or was it two.

"a cinematic screen write...."

Darned I should be in his class coaching them with monetary rewards and no mother's around when I waved my wand.

Here are the things father have to do nowadays.

Arthur; The Legend and Myth Chapter 24

24.

Gawain toasted the return of Sir Kay with his brothers. He had heard of the return and grabbed Sir Kay when the other arrived. They had celebrated into the night but the other knights had stayed away. The second group had set at the round table without Arthur.

“I do not trust the man.” Lancelot was the first to speak. He was seated there with Percival and Lamorak. They held the goblets in their hands but the mind was on loyalty. “He was not from the Legion.”

“Yes and you were.” Lamorak took a swig of the fermented drink. “To the Legion. We are all ex-legionnaries,”

“Hail Mars!” Percival called out the old battle cry of the Legion. He then sneered at Lamorak. “Should it be now Hail King Arthur?”

Lancelot laughed out when he heard the name. He never really liked Arthur but he had enjoyed his life there at Camelot. There were the ladies and then the make shift monastery that he prayed at. Merlin the druid did not like the idea on the place of worship. He was of the ancient ways and the forest was a sanctuary for him.

“Arthur is not a King. He is like us.” Lamorak laughed ever louder before he emptied the goblet. “We are all men and none of us are Kings. Or knights.”

“No, we cannot be Kings for we are not destined to be one. We can be however become knights to serve the King. Arthur is not a bad choice for the King. Or Emperor. There can be only be one Caesar as there will be only one Arthur. They are the qualities of Kings.” Percival remarked back. “I have served one before and now I am prepared to do so.”

“Then why are we drinking here? We should be with the arrogant bastard there.” Lancelot was getting agitated. He was upset that Arthur did not consult them before he accepted Sir Kay back.

“That one is not a man. I know him before.” Lamorak voiced out. “I have seen his kind in the Legion. They are back humpers.”

With that statement, Lancelot laughed out louder. Only Percival kept his face straight. He disliked those men who preferred the company of one of their own. The three men drank and then slept on separate corners. In the other drinking establishment, Sir Kay had his own cot alone for the brothers were all sleeping as one family. Sir Kay stood out to the open skies and looked at the stars. He eyed the lady standing there by the side of the tavern. He had seen her watching them. He stepped over to her and offered her some coins. It was a trade of sorts and she led him to the stacked up hay. When there, he stopped her in her tracks and pushed her to the stack.

“I have other needs.” Sir Kay lowered his raised his tunic while the lady slipped off her long tunic. She stood there naked in the cold night. She reached for him but he was hard. He grabbed her hand and then twisted her arm. She was to cry out when he turned her around. He pushed her to the stack of hay and then mounted himself from the rear. She cried out in pain for he was at the wrong hole but he did not care. He had his humps and then he was freed of his agony. He left her sobbing at the stack and staggered back to his cot. He will sleep well then.

There were two other persons who were uneasy that night and it was not at Camelot.

Lord Pendragon stood by the high windows in his personal chamber. He had not put on his robe then but clad only in the towel around his waist. He was use to the cold and the chamber was heated from the fireplace. He felt the presence behind him and was to reach for his sword at the waist but he then realized he was not out in the battle fields.

“Are you unwell, my Lord?” Pendragon heard the murmurs of his lover. He had loved the lady for years since he chanced on her under disguise. He regretted his move then but it was a sin of his that will be redeemed upon death. He tuned to look at her. She was named Ygema then but since the death of her last lover, Gorlois; she had it changed to Igraine.

“I am fine, Igraine.” Pendragon held out his arms to his robed lover. She was with him and never lost the figure he once lain with. He felt the stir in his groin but his performance was slight. He does not want to engage in what he termed as a losing battle. His lover handed him a goblet of the finest wine that only a Lord could afford to hold in the cellars. He took his drink and felt the warmth in his body.
“Is it about the errant Lord near the sea?” Lady Igraine asked. She knew of his exploits and he confide with her. It was their pledge as lovers when she found out about the killing of Gorlois. She had forgiven him and even bear for him three child; Elaine, Morgause and Morgan Le Fay. The last was her redemption for the child she gave away. It was a son and borne from her womb. The issue was she was unsure which father birthed him.

“It’s decided. The druid will take the child to be raised in the monastery.” Pendragon had the child spirited away that day. Never a day had Igraine not prayed for the child she had given away. She named her last daughter Morgan even though it was a girl. She could not bear any more children for Pendragon and with no son, she had her last daughter named after one.

“Yes, Arthur had started building a castle. He may be a bane to our life.” Pendragon told his lover. “I should have killed him when I first met him.”

“Cursed to the Romans for leaving their free men here. They think they still own the isle and gives away tracts of our land.” Pendragon was fuming. He had done with some errant owners who were previously Legionnaires. “If I have a …”

Pendragon regretted his words when his lover placed her finger over his lips. He had always wanted a heir but he held only consorts for others. Igraine sensed his pain and then told him to invite Arthur over.

“Elaine is of age now. She needs a Lord over her.” Igraine suggested to her lover. “With Arthur in your family, he may be an ally than an enemy. Marry her to gain alliance and perhaps an heir to your expanding empire.”

“We should invite Arthur over for a visit.” Pendragon smiled at his lover and more so when she reached for his hardness. She knew many other ways to please her man and he was ever grateful.

The words of the lady did not reached the younger ones which were gathered at the smaller hall in the far end of the castle but their mood there was just as restless.

Lady Elaine being the oldest had seated herself by the window sill overlooking the moat and into the nearby roads that accessed to the castle. The night was cold and her sleep was disrupted by the dreams. She got up and moved to the window sill. The scene outside was grim and dark but she could make out the shape of the moat and the rod that led to the main gate.

Elaine was feeling lonely and depressed for she was without a suitor at her age. She was tall and slim like her mother but she held her father’s moods for anger. She tossed the knitting rod held in her hand and then looked at her two sisters sleeping ever soundly in their cots.
Morgause was younger by five years to her and yet she was not contented with the ladies works there. Morgan le Fay was an exception with her inquisitive mind to understand the beyond of both man and woman. She was always testing the tutors of their mind with her perplexed questions. She once questioned if Man was to be a woman would he bear the children. Her questions have gone her to be sent to the tower but it did not stop her.

“Come to me, handsome Lord. I am here.” Elaine whispered out to the dark night.

Back in Camelot, Arthur was also restless. He felt as if he had erred in asking Sir Kay to return. The other was not a follower and lacked the discipline required in the Legion. He shifted himself from the cot and stepped out. He saw movements at the stack of hay and ignored it. He had seen many a time the young and horny ones had used the dark corners there. He looked away and saw the druid walking towards him. It was unusual for the druid to see him so late but he waited.

“My Lord, I heard you recalled back Sir Kay. Was it wise?” The druid surprised Arthur for it was unlike of the druid to speak so bluntly. Arthur nodded and the waited for the next line of question.

“I am amazed by your generosity. Truly you are the King I was to serve.” Merlin complimented the other.

“King? Lord? Make up your mind, druid I am getting tired of this tirade of ranks.” Arthur displayed his bad mood from the long riding and the lack of rest. Merlin merely smiled and then asked Arthur why he brought back the arrogant knight.

“Sir Kay had his other qualities. He can fight and above all, I need fighters. The guards we employed are weak and lack battle experiences. Percival cannot be training them for too long a time as we are to be prepared for any battles.”

“Talking of battles, my Lord. May I suggest that you pay a visit to Utter Pendragon?” Merlin came out of it with his blunt statement. “I have been reading the stars and you ought to go.”

Arthur was taken aback when Merlin suggested that. He was in mind to visit Pendragon after that last meeting. He wanted to see the strength of the other and be prepared for any battle if they were He held half the numbers of Pendragon but he was recruiting more every season. His castle was half completed and needed more coins. He needed more of the later if he was be Lord. For that, he needed more landowners to submit to him.

“Pendragon have indicated that he wants a part of our farm proceeds.” Arthur mumbled out. “I have enough to feed and trade but if he takes a part, I am forced to gather more.”

“True words but if you are seen his ally he may taxed you less.” Merlin sounded out. “Or none.”

Arthur kept his silence on the matter and Merlin walked away back to his own hut. During the walk, Merlin dropped the enchanted woods that he had in his hands when he spoke to Arthur. It was a good spell for the other was submissive to his thoughts. Merlin smiled at the thought.

“Pendragon my former Lord, meet your makers soon. Arthur will be your nemesis and heir to the throne. Hail the King.”

Arthur; The legend and Myth Chapter 23

23.

Pendragon raised his back to view the unfinished castle. He had ridden in with a huge army of over a hundred knights. There were also about five hundred foot soldiers and archers. He was met by Arthur and the six knights at the farmlands. Arthur approached the other Lord and his master as acknowledged by himself.

“King Arthur? I hear more of that daily.” Pendragon was clearly upset at the fame that Arthur had garnered for himself. He was fighting a war to protect the people and then within his own vassals, one had carved a name to the people.

“It’s a name that the people called me. I did not asked for it,….my Lord.” Arthur tried to sound reasonable to the other. “I am still your …”

“A fine castle you are building.” Pendragon spoke out in a cold manner. “I did not know permission was …”

“You did, my Lord. I told me to defend the land. I could only do so with a …”

“Fortress was what you needed. Not a …castle.” Pendragon controlled himself. “Where is the druid?”
“I am here, my Lord.” Merlin appeared from among the riders. Arthur and his knights were surprised by the druid as he was not seen then when they rode out. “I am to heed your call.”

“Have you a hand in this castle?” Pendragon asked the druid.

“Nay, my Lord. I am a mere servant of the alchemy. I did dabble in the designs but the works are done by Arthur’s servant.” Merlin grovel to the questions of Pendragon. “What ails you, my Lord? The castle of …”

“There is nothing wrong with my castle. It stand tall and well on its foundation.” Pendrgagon defended his castle. It was at the end of his statement that he realized that Merlin had entrapped him there. “Why do you ask?”

Pendragon drew back on the question. He knew that it was with Merlin’s guidance that his castle got built with the moat. He looked back at the castle. Then he asked Arthur.

“No moat for you castle? It’s unheard of.” Arthur turned on his horse and looked to the castle. There was no moat there as expected of one in most castles. He was to speak when Merlin cut in for him.

“There is no grandeur castle than yours. How could this one overshadowed yours?” Merlin injected in and then did a mock of the castle. “It sits there more like a retreat home for the weary.”

“Are you weary, my Lord?” Merlin stretched himself there. Pendragon was surprised at the invitation. He was tired from his rides but the idea of resting in an unfinished castle did no appeal to him. His own castle was days of rides away but it was his own castle. He shook his head and then looked at Arthur.

“You are my vassal and I expect no less. Your castle will be my bastion onto the sea here. Do protect the lands here.” Pendragon looked to the farmlands. “I will need it for my growing army.”

With that, Pendragon turned his horse to kick at it. Just as he was to ride off, he stopped in mid-stride. He looked at Merlin.

“Know your place, druid. I expect no less and more.” It was a veil threat. Merling merely nodded and then watched the arrogant Lord rode off with his army. He then saw himself faced by the one he had earlier swore to serve.

“I did it out of concern for your safety, my Lord. You are not his peer.” Merlin looked to Arthur. The later ignored the reply and rode back to Camelot. All the knights followed him except for Percival. The later then spoke.

“You rear a fox in the lair of the lion. Are you sure it was the right move?” Percival looked at Merlin. He then continued on without waiting for reply. “It’s a bold move but one that I can see you had it covered well. You may milk with the litter but when it’s old enough, the fox must leave or fight for its place with the lion.”

“Nay, the fox you mentioned does not exist. Instead in its place is the dragon. That dragon still needs nurturing although its talons are getting sharper.” Merlin replied. He then asked back Percival.

“Why do you run with the …. Fox? You came from the ranks of the lions before.”
“The fox as I knew is not really a fox. He may be the dragon you claimed. I was with the lion and now I will seek the dragon.” Percival smiled and then rode on. Merlin still on his horse smiled. He was glad that the knights may be on his side. Now the crack had appeared between Arthur and Pendragon but there was more than what was seen.

Arthur and Pendragon may battle one day but it may not be with swords.

Kins of the same blood does not do battle with death in the end.

Unaware of the mind in Pendragon, the aging Lord was in deep thought on his ride. He knew that Arthur may be a threat and the castle was its sign. He saw the castle was not as huge like his but he had let his enemy stationed on his land. He had fought many of these from landowners to bandits that dwelled on his land. It was also troublesome when he had to dig them out. It was like looking for the hare in the holes where the creature could burrow out from other holes. He then called out to his knight.

“Send me Sir Kay.” The knight that was summoned rode up to the Lord. H met Sir Kay at the borders fighting for the other side. He was a good fighter and Pendragon favored good ones. He had Sir Kay pledged his allegiance to him with the promise of coins. And gold with land. It was the simple needs of such fighters.

“I want you to rejoin Arthur.” Pendragon told him. “Be my spy among them. I need to know when the man will strike. Be good and you may get your own castle.”

“Perhaps at Camelot.” With that Sir Kay rode off to Camelot. Pendragon looked at the knight riding off. He was surprised that the later did not argue or reject the move. Maybe the earlier promises was more than he could afford to lose.

Sir Kay rode on his horse without looking back. He disliked the idea of meeting Arthur. He was a proud person and skillful. He need not look to anyone for help. He has his own manor in the Midlands but he chose to travel and fight. He was always a fighter since that day. He was a landowner but the event of the night when his family was killed by the outlaws changed his life. They chanced on his home when he was away.

“No!” Sir Kay recalled that moment when he held his wife’s body. He laid her back on the ground and then looked at the two servants who followed him on the trip. They were his first killings and soon one of the many. He hunted those men and killed them all. Then he tried to join the Legion but the recruiter rejected him.

“You are too old to teach.” Those words hurt him but he was adamant on killing. He paid his way to be trained as gladiator. He then took to the smaller fights and with his wounds and pride, he horned his skills. He soon became known as Sir Kay.

A fight was all he knew.

“I am glad to see again, Sir Kay.” Arthur looked to the knight who rode in to fight with him at some Picts that had strayed into the land. Arthur was with Percival and some guards of his. They ambushed the ten Picts in the forest.

“Have at them!” Arthur called out. He drew out his long sword and charged. The Picts were on the cliff edge and Arthur outnumbered them by two more extra men. The Picts fought hard but Arthur was triple the efforts of three Picts. It was in the middle of the fight when Arthur saw more Picts had arrived. The reinforced Picts were another group of ten and they came prepared for the fight. The tides of the fight were turning around and Arthur was to call for a retreat when he saw another person joined the fight. The last fighter was covered on his face with a red cloth and he wielded the twin sword like a gladiator. The mode of the fight was the same; the feigned move to get the other to come nearer and then the deadly thrust to end the other.

“I am too, my Lord.” Sir Kay swallowed the bile in his mouth. He disliked the name but he was under obligations. Arthur approached the errant knight. He was still wary of the man but Sir Kay had saved his life. He was to speak when Percival overtake him.

“You will ride out now. Tell me where I can send the coins. Now leave.” Percival glared at Sir Kay. The later lowered his hands and then turned to move. Arthur told Sir Kay to stay.

“You can come back.” Arthur muttered out the words. He was surprised at his reach to the errant knight but he knew Sir Kay was a good fighter. And then he needed men like Sir Kay. One of Sir Kay was worth ten of the guards he hired.

Arthur; The Legend and Myth Chapter 22

22.

Arthur cast aside the gladius with anger. He had just battle with some outlaws on the plains. It was a simple fight with peasants turned outlaws but the fight was long and carelessness stepped into his moves. He had found himself short in reach compared to the longer sword of the others. Lancelot had discarded his sword for the long one he was then its master. Lancelot had adopted well to his sword and displayed fine skills with it.

“Be off now.” Lancelot kicked at the fallen outlaw. He had dis-armed the person with his gifted sword. The fallen outlaw rolled over and then took off on his feet. Lancelot looked to the others who had flee the scene leaving only him and Arthur. He saw the other tossed the gladius.

“A fighter does not blame the weapon when he is below par.” Lancelot gloated on his win. Arthur glared at the other. It was not the fight that distracted him but the woes of being a leader for Camelot. Unlike in the Legion, he had the numbers too but they were disciplined and more to it, they work without questions. Above all, all of them swore loyalty to the eagle banner. All the Legions held their Eagle as revered symbol in their columns. No legionnaires will let the eagle touched the ground.

“The gladius was a great sword but I find myself uncomfortable with it.” Arthur looked down before he sighed. “I have fought with that weapon for years and lately I felt as if I am not comfortable with it. If it was as if we were never together.”

“Use mine.” Lancelot offered his sword. “I do want it back when you are done.”

Arthur refused the offer and then went to look for his horse. During his ride, his mind was floating on the recent events. He had garnered himself the land’ a sizeable one and with the wealth his castle was taking form. The main towers on the cliff were completed and the main hall was done. The walls on the inner circle were half done and so were the outer walls. He has a hundred men building his castle with Merlin in lead. There were some skirmishes with the other smaller lords or the recalcitrant outlaws. He had defeated them all with his knights and for some he sent the knights to deal at their own camp. Lancelot and Percival have built their own homes outside of Camelot. It was all fine except that Arthur himself was in a depression.

“Arthur, I was looking for you.” It was Merlin who rode up to him. Arthur told the druid that he was busy then. “Chasing always sheep robbers should be left your knights or the guards you have hired.”
Arthur shook his head. He knew he has to act proper like a Centurion and not a low ranked legionnaire. It was his misgiving that he felt the loss of his ability.

“You need reinforcement. I know of what that could helped you.” Merlin told the other. “Follow me. I will take you there.”

Merlin rode off without waiting for a reply. Arthur despite his weariness followed the druid. The ride was long into the dark and then they camped by the river stream. Arthur rested by the banks while Merlin started the fireplace. In the morning, Arthur was awaken by the druid.

“We will walk now.” The druid proceeded along the stream until they came to a fork. The stream end at a river and its current was fast. The druid stopped there and then proceeded along the river with Arthur in tow. The walk along the river bank was shorter then passed the trees and bushes. Arthur saw the creatures there at the river will scot off to the protection to the forest when they came by. Then they chanced on a waterfall cascading from the river over the cliff. The druid motioned to Arthur towards the river. In the center of the river just before the fall was a huge boulder. It towered over the river currents and moss grew thick on the sides. On the top of the boulder was the hilt of a sword.

“Whose pullet out this sword from this stone, is right wise King born of all England.” Merlin called out. “I bring thee the worthy champion here now.”

With that Merlin motioned to Arthur that he was to step out there.

“You heard of the legend. Here is the sword that many have tried to move and yet none had done it.” Merlin looked to Arthur. “You, my Lord can do it. You are its rightful King of all Albion.”

“Albion? What name is that? This is Provicia Britannia. I will not have my life be place at stake for what may be a stone.” Arthur replied. “Enough of your fables, druid. I am leaving.”

“Do so at your own peril, my Lord.” Merlin uttered out. “I believed you are to do the task.”

Arthur found himself looking to the tree line and felt as if he was watched by the shadows behind it. He reached for his gladius and then recalled that he had tossed it away. He was left only with his other weapon; the pugio or the dagger. The druid approached him and told him that it was the only way out for him.

“The sword is yours as you are the rightful owner.” Arthur reluctant to the task made his way to the river. He stepped into the icy water and then waded across. The currents in the river were swift and a few times he stumbled when he tried to move over. He soon found himself by the boulder but there was another misgiving. His fingers could not find any hold on the boulder with the moss there. He picked at the moss and tore chunks off there. He then found the boulder had cracks and nicks which he could place his fingers in. He dug in deep and then began his climb. The climb was tedious with the river currents and then the fingers became numb form the cold. He tried to move on but the nerves there were getting tougher to move. He then felt the tinge on his fingers and saw the cracks or nick he was holding to was turning shades. It was from the stone gray to the blood shades of man. The bloody red cracks then vibrated then and it appeared to pull him up.

Soon Arthur right hand reached the hilt there and he held on tight. He pulled his weight forward and then with his left hand he clutched the next clump of moss to ease the climb. He then sat up on the boulder but his right hand did not leave the hilt. He held the hilt with both hands and then heaved it up.

The sword did not move.

Arthur released his hands in defeat but then he felt himself slipping off the boulder. He reached out to hold the hilt and then without realizing it, the sword moved inside the boulder. Arthur then saw the read shades slipping out of the stone as if it was the blood in the man’s vessel. He pulled at the sword and then slowly pulled it out. It was a long sword and he only got a quarter of its length out. He pulled himself up and then with slow motion, he pulled the length out. The blade reached his lower chest and with the hilt, it reached his heart. It was a long sword and the hilt was red in the shades with the stitches there with the silver lining.

“Raise it up.” Merlin shouted. Arthur raised it and held it over his head. With the sword upright, Arthur felt the weight of the sword. It was not lighter than the gladius but the weight of the sword was distributed through the blade to the hilt being the heavier end.

“Hail King Arthur.” Merlin shouted out.

With the sword, Arthur found himself with confidence and his skills of swordmanship crude then but he was improving. The sword also brought out the leadership in him and then more knights rallied to him.

The sword had given him an image.

He was then King of Albion.

So he thought.

Arthur: The Legend and Myth Chapter 21

Part II

War

21

The building of Camelot was soon taking structure with the foundation done with the inlaid stones. The twin towers were not done but the foundation showed its stump. The main Hall was almost ready with the roof missing its cover. The round table had been relocated to the hall and Merlin still laid it thick with his drawings.

“Damn the masons” Merlin cursed at the ones who were helping him. The wealth of the seized lands have helped to pay for of the workers but with over a hundred of them on the ramparts and make bridges of planks, Merlin found his attention was spanned too wide. He was working to the late nights and up at dawn to oversee the workings. The changes to his drawing have been wide but he retained the main design. On that day, he was concerned with something that baffled even him.

“The caves are for the dragons.” The one who spoke was a local and known as the man who knew much of the dragons. “I have lived here long enough. My father and his father used to feed them.”

“Issac, you are also an inventor of tales. I have enough of your fables.”

Issac was past his youthful age and during the last battle, he spent time sharpening the arrows. He was blind in one eye but his hands were firm. He was still climbing the cliff to feed the birds nesting there. It was a wonder he did not fall but that was what the masons had wished.

“Then hear not my fables but the truth.” Issac defended himself. “Your …”

“The tunnel we dug led us to a small cavern. You know it and yet you denied it.” The mason intervened. “It will be reinforced with pillars to uphold the castle foundation.”

“Which was not needed.” Issac was getting upset. He then looked at Merlin. “Believe me. Go there and see it for yourself.”

It was what Merlin actually did. He took the climb down the wooden steps and soon found himself the cavern beneath the castle foundation. It was a small cavern but it held some adjoining tunnels. The tunnels were small but accessible to the ones which were smaller. Merlin studied the tunnels and then he remarked out.

“They are large enough for a child and none of us are.” Merlin smiled. “Or a dwarf.”

It was then a voice roared out.

“I am not insinuating anything but can I try.” The voice belonged to Durant Merley. “I am half your height but my mind worked like most of you.”

Merlin smiled at the man who many had considered as less due to his genetic makeover. The man was one of the fighters in the battle as an archer. He had later joined as a carpenter.

“I can crawl in there.” Without an answer, Durant stepped into the tunnel. He crouched there and then picked up some dark materials. “Oops! It’d their dropping.”

Durant climbed in and took himself by the tunnel. It was not all mud but there were layers of stones there to hold the edges. He could feel the roots of the deep rooted vegetation and then there was the sound of the birds. He soon chanced on the broken shells but that was not all he found. There were creature bones there and marks of paws. He crawled on and found the tunnel opening narrowing but it was still enough to squeeze through. He pulled at his tunic and then went ahead. The stones there scraped his skin but he went on. Soon the tunnel opened up and then he found himself able to stand. The next he knew was the tunnel was no more there. It opened to a narrow opening that resembled a doorway with no doors. The space of the opening was narrow at about two feet. Durant looked over the edge and it was a long drop. He was to step back when an eagle flew at him. He raised his hands to cover his face but the eagle clawed at his body with the talons. He crouched back into the in the tunnel and then back to the cavern.

“Get the man some herbs.” Merlin saw the wounded man crawling out and fell on to the ground. He was bloodied at the back and on his lower limbs. Merlin was still there for he was inspecting the cavern. The men there assisted Durant and then placed him up. Durant later told Merlin of the opening and the eagle. He then produced the bones and handed it to Merlin.

“These are not ordinary bones. The creatures bones are smaller but these are larger.” Merlin examined the scales. “I have not seen these for a long time. There were some then seen in the jugs of the old masters.”

“Are you saying these are dragons? You are cracked. Dragons were not seen for generations.” Durant voiced out but Issac soon rebutted back.

“You have not seen the dragons and how can you deny it?” Issac hit back. “My grandfather fed them and so was my father when he was younger. He stopped when the dragons stopped coming back. That was all I know.”

Merlin then cut in and had the whole cavern cleared. He then had the cavern sealed. He then took to his horse and rode off. He rode hard and fast into the forest and then cleared it to the far side. He was upset and then dismounted. He stared at the trees there. There was the oak tree and the cherry trees with the bushes of assorted growths. He looked on and saw the flowers from the leaves. The daffodils and the lilac were bushes apart but they seem in motion to get together. Merlin then reached into his tunic pocket and pulled out the pendant on the chain. The design on the pendant was simple. It was the motif of two dragons facing each other. One dragon was red and the other was blue. “Небото ги исполнуваат морето на хоризонтот и од таму суштество ќе се состанат за да работат на судбината.” That was Merlin words chanted in Macedonian. (The skies meet the sea at the horizon and from there the creature will meet to work on the destiny.) He learned those words from an ancient master but that was another tale.
“El destí del món estava en l'arc de Sant Martí i amb ella els colors encegarà als quals no vould veure.” The flowers spoke in ancient Catalan. (The destiny of the world was in the rainbow and with it the colors will blind those who could not see.)
“Mae golwg ar y llygaid nid yn unig yno ond o fewn y Coryn .” The trees replied. (The sight of the eyes is not only there but within the orb.)
The oak tree branches moved along with the cherry trees while the flowers flowed with the stalks moving. From the stalks moved and the tuiny figures appeared. It was later to be named as fairies but the ancient name was angel. Three angels emerged from the flowers and then they perched themselves on the leaves.
“We will speak in the language of the angels.” The oak tree spoke yet the sound was heard from its trunk. “You summoned us, Merlin. Speak out before we lose out desire to listen.”
“The dragons are here.” Merlin spoke out. He then spat out the mucuous from his mouth. “Why can’t they leave me alone?’
“Alone, Merlin? You knew of the dragons when you came here.” The cherry tree sounded out. “Peter of Bedyr may have mentioned of the dragons when you mocked him with your antics.”
Merlin recalled the fanfare he did with the orbs then. He knew the peasants loved a colorful show and he displayed it. He was to reply when the angels spoke.
“Merlin, who do you fear them? They were…” Merlin cut short the angels with his harsh words.
“Speak not of my legacy. I had turned off that part of my life. I am Merlin the Druid among the few I was with a name but I am not a ….dragon descent.” Merlin sighed then. “You were supposed to help me. I am helping you find a King for your lands. Your people and your forest.”
“We helped you. We hid the lake for you. We diverted the enemies from your village.” The cherry tree sounded out. “But we can’t do everything. Pendragon is coming back.”
“Pendragon?” Merlin was stunned. He was not expecting Pendragon to be back so soon. The Romans have withdrawn but the Scots are at the borders. Pendragon have ridden there with his army and was to be away for another harvest or more. Merlin knew that Arthur was not ready then. He need more time.
“Arthur is not ready yet.” Merlin looked to the trees. “Can you talk to the Lady in the Lake to give him the sword?”
“The sword? Arthur rejected it. The winds carried the news to us.” The oak tree then voiced out. “Now you telling us otherwise.”
Merlin was to made another plea when the angels spoke.
“Arthur cannot just sit there at Camelot. He has to build his own reputation wider. He must build up his knights. The table can seat twelve and he is at half the number.” One of the angels spoke. Merlin was getting agitated and then he spoke up again in a louder voice.
“Settle for me a sword. If Arthur was to be known, he cannot be carrying a gladius.” Arthur then stepped to walk away. “I will build Camelot for Arthur but he needed the sword to lead the knights.”

“There is a sword. It’s in the stone. Not far from here.” One of the angels replied. “I can talk to the stones.”

Arthur' The Legend and Myth Chapter 20

20.

Gendal took the last effort to reach the low lying root to have the hold for the descent. He regretted not bringing the rope but the words of his father was his to adhere. He was told to fetch the stone where the star had descended the night. Father told him from his bed that the Gods sent the stone to him. Gendal set off on his journey that morning at dawn. He had eyed the star that night and saw it streak across the sky. It landed not far from the hut but it was deep into the ravines. He disliked that place for it was home to the mountain creatures. Gendal’ l egs slipped on the footing at the cliff. It was one thing to slip on one foot but both legs meant a sliding was to be. Gendal slid down the cliff and soon found himself saved by another root that gave him some leverage. It from there Gendal slowly descended the side and then he was at the bottom.

”Aitean!” Gendal cursed in his Gaelic Irish word. He picked himself up and was met by the intense heat. It was emitting from the bottom of the valley. He had his hands raised to cover his eyes and then slid behind the boulder nearby. It was a relief but the heat was still there. He stayed there for a while and when he felt it was fine, he stepped out to look for the stone. It was not any stone but the one that the Gods had sent over. He found the stone eventually but it was a small stone. It was elongated and light enough to carry. Gendal wrapped the stone with his cloak and carried it home.

“Gendal, work on the fire.” Gendal heard his father while he stepped on the bellow to keep the fire going. Each step he do it, his heart burned and his limbs hurt. The stone was hammered by his father who had dragged his body off the bed. The elderly man was near death and yet with the stone, the life in the man was rejuvenated. They have been working on the stone for three days and nights, and it was slowly forming. Gendal looked to man who was his father. He was one of the best blacksmith in the art of sword making.

“This sword will rival that of the best. I will name it….” The elderly man paused in his hammering. “Caladbolg… that is a good name.”

“Caladcholg? What is in the name?” Gendal asked. “Why not something more meaningful?”

“The hard blade it meant.” The elderly man raised the hammer once more. “You are not the one who is doing this. I know my blades. I made some of the best. I was taught by the goblins. They are great masters….”

Gendal was not looking. The man had no interest in the blades. He was not keen to be in line as the next blacksmith. He had been learning his art in the making of the plough and the farming tools. He had seen the battles and the killings. The Romans drew the Picts away from the lower lands and they pillaged it here but not for long. The Picts were not all killers; they were also farmers and with the need to fight soon ceased. The Picts went back to their farms and peace soon reigned. It was then Gendal learned the new tools. The elderly man soon realized that the family trade was ending with him but he will hammer the last great sword. He has plans for it. It will redeemed his sins and repay that of his family.

The sword was made.

It was given a hard metal hilt and wrapped with the thongs from the wolves innards cured for days. It was then coated with a layer of glue materials to strengthen the wrap to the hilt. A wooden scabbard was made to hold it and on the scabbard was crafted the rune designs. The elderly man then was weaker with the last effort of hammering the sword. Nevertheless he dragged himself to the forest and from there he took the hard walk by the roots and the low hanging branches. He needed to rest at several spots but soon he came upon the destination. The large tree trunk blocked his view but once he went round it, he saw the lake.

It was the lake he sought.

The lake was small but the water was deep. He knew that for he had carried his daughter body into it and stopped after a few feet. The water had reached his chest then and the water soon took his daughter body into it. It was his way of seeking forgiveness. It was the wishes of the Lake. His daughter was in a better place in the lake. In return he promised to serve the Lady in the Lake.

“Make me the sword.” That was her request. It took him twenty years to do it.

That moment was then.

The elderly man stepped into the lake and walked on with the sword on his back. He was not returning but to join his daughter. He wants to be with her. He felt the water reached his chest and then something happened. It felt like fishes swarming around him and then the tug on the sword on his back. He reached for it but the water was stiffening his limbs. He was held against his wishes and the wrapping on the sword was becoming loose. He was to scream but the water at his chest rose up. He felt then that his body was raised up and floated on the surface. He was swept to the banks. He found himself lying there.

“It’s not fair. I am dying.” The elderly man shouted out. He pushed himself up but the blow on his head came not from the water but that of a man. Gendel lowered the hammer that was in his hand. It was covered with his father’s blood. He dragged the body to the tree lines and then returned to the lake. He bowed to it and then spoke up.

“I done as you asked. Now please give me water to the farm. The wars are over and we need to live.” Gendel spoke up. He then turned to return to his home. He was done with the killing. The body of his father will be devoured by the predators of the forest.

Arthur laughed at the take spoken by Merlin. He looked at the druid.

“Are you then Gendel?” Arthur asked. The later shrugged his shoulders and then replied.

“I am not Gendel but he was known to me. He was told to me by a master I once served with.” Merlin stammered out. He then looked at Arthur. “I could assure you that my list of masters is few but with each one I learned new things. If you are concerned on your role, you are not my master. You are my Lord.”

“Lord? Master? I cared not. I rode with you because you told me of Excalibur. If that was the sword, then I am not pleased with it. It was made by a master who was killed by his own ….apprentice.” Arthur mocked up a smile. “Like…”

“Like us? Me the apprentice to you the master? I think you have ride off the cliff there. We are not the same. I am your servant to the Lord of the new world. You can’t be the Lord unless you hold the power in your hand.” Merlin looked at the gladius on the belt. “That is not a powerful item. It’s a normal sword. It’s not Fragarach or the Claiomh Solais. Those were great swords of the Kings.”

Fragarach was known as the Answerer or the Retaliator. It was once held by Manannan mac Lir. No one could tell a lie or move when the sword was held at the throat. The sword was said to be able to cut through any walls or shields. The Claiomh Solais was the sword that could slay the Gods. Both swords were spoken by mouth but never were ever seen.

“Well, I will not hold that sword. Not now and not ever.” Arthur snapped back. He then took leave of Merlin but the later stopped him.

“How can you be the Lord of the lands when you held nothing in your hand? Your knight Lancelot held one.” Merlin challenged him. “You must hold one.”

“Then get me one.” Arthur replied.

Soon I will be back.....

I have been penning away for the last weeks, slowly; I had to put aside my other concerns to go here. But as was once mentioned to me, all ...
